ATEPELI - Ateliers du Portugal, part of an international luxury group, dedicated to the production of exclusive leather goods and footwear components. We have 3 workshops in northern Portugal (Ponte de Lima, Penafiel and Santa Maria da Feira) and strive to provide an environment that nurtures employee skills and talent.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our Human Resources team. The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate and timely delivery of compensation to employees.
Responsibilities
* Execute payroll calculations, ensuring accurate compensation delivery.
* Process complex payroll elements to maintain data consistency.
* Maintain thorough records to support internal controls and audits.
* Support end-to-end monthly payroll processes.
* Implement reconciliation procedures to ensure data accuracy across platforms.
* Execute compliance procedures to meet regulatory requirements.
* Provide timely responses to payroll queries.
* Support audits by providing accurate documentation/data and contributing to effective risk management.
* Communicate and actively partner with HR, Legal, Finance and other senior management as needed on all payroll related matters.
* Support Payroll manager when required on projects.
* Ensure consistency in the delivery of global payroll to employees and maintain reliability in meeting deadlines, understanding employee and management needs, troubleshooting effectively to ensure optimal global payroll operations.
Qualifications
This role is a great fit for a detail-oriented and reliable professional with proven expertise in payroll administration and a strong understanding of accounting principles, HR information systems, labor law, payroll systems, and tax compliance. Essential qualifications include: a degree in Management or related field; a high ethical standard; valuing data confidentiality; excellent planning, organization, and time management skills; the ability to prioritize multiple projects; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); proficiency in HR & Payroll systems (e.g., ADP Streamline, PwC, SAP, Meta4) and Microsoft Excel. A good working knowledge of employment tax laws and regulations is important.
