As an EHS Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the environmental, health, and safety performance on a large-scale data centre project. Working closely with site teams, subcontractors, and senior management, you will ensure a proactive safety culture, compliance with all legal and company standards, and a safe working environment for everyone on site.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation and maintenance of all EHS systems and procedures on site
* Ensure compliance with local legislation, client requirements, and internal company standards
* Carry out site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to monitor safety practices
* Deliver EHS inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for site personnel and subcontractors
* Support and guide subcontractors on all safety-related matters
* Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
* Maintain up-to-date EHS documentation, including risk registers, permits, and safety statements
* Work closely with project management and site supervisors to promote a safety-first culture
* Produce and present regular EHS reports to senior leadership and clients
* Monitor and manage environmental aspects of the project including waste management, noise, and emissions
* Lead emergency preparedness planning and drills
* Participate in client EHS meetings and audits
1. Skills & Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related field (e.g. NEBOSH, Degree/Diploma in EHS)
* Minimum 7+ years' EHS experience in construction or heavy engineering environments
* Previous experience on data centres, pharma, semiconductor, or industrial projects preferred
* Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, regulations, and best practices across Europe
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
* Confident in leading site teams and engaging with all levels of the organisation
* Ability to identify risk and implement effective solutions in high-pressure environments
* Competent in EHS reporting tools and documentation systems
* Fluent in English (additional European languages a bonus)
* Willingness to travel and work on-site across Europe
