About The Job
The mission of RISK Market & Financial Institutions ("RISK MFI") is to provide the Senior Management of the Group, of the RISK Function and of Global Markets ("GM") and of BP2S with full transparency and dynamic analysis and monitoring of market, counterparty, valuation, and liquidity risks originated and managed by CIB and of credit risks on Financial Institutions in order to assist them in their risk decision making and monitoring.
The Counterparty Credit Risk team of RISK MFI analyzes the counterparty risk exposure on specific names or a portfolio, monitors its aggregation across products and counterparty types, designs and maintains specific counterparty risk stress test methodologies, participates to the definition of the counterparty risk appetite and acts as point of contact on topics related to the collateral.
The team works in close collaboration with the Credit Officers on Corporates and Financial Institutions.
As the RISK MFI CCR Portugal Team Leader, you will be leading a newly formed team and locally managing team members directly working on hedge funds.
Your Main Activities Are
Drive the analysis of the credit counterparty risk (CCR) generated by CIB activities with its clients.
Support and advise on the portfolio review analysis performed by the team or produce own analysis when required.
Animate the book of work of the counterparty risk analysts team members guiding them between deep analysis work and reactivity in face of events and crisis.
Escalate concerns about the counterparty risk profile of any counterparty to the related RISK CCR managers.
Drive framework and methodology improvements in the analysis and controls of the counterparty and collateral risks.
Collaborate with Credit Officer and Senior Credit Officer in charge of Hedge Funds, other Financial Institutions or Corporates to understand their analysis needs.
Keep contact with market and valuation risk teams to stay updated on market developments.
Regularly engage with the monitoring, framework, reporting, supervisory or methodology teams working on counterparty risk to ensure proactive alignment of the CCR management responsibilities.
Participate to the review of the stress testing methodologies related to counterparty risks.
Build, Animate and coach the team of counterparty risk analysts in Lisbon and Porto.
Contribute to the hiring and onboarding of risk analysts to maintain a high-performing team in Lisbon and Porto.
Ensure the team deliver a high quality well controlled production service respecting deadlines, evidenced by KPI.
Foster a positive team culture that promotes delivery-focus, collaboration, accuracy, and innovation.
Lead and motivate team members to achieve employee engagement and develop performance, notably by setting and regularly reviewing SMART objectives for each team member.
Ensure the team is adequately staffed with a diverse level of experience and skills.
Actively contribute to the team's personal and professional development.
Provide training means to ensure proper execution of the monitoring, analysis and reporting tasks.
Anticipate on team members career evolution by regularly discussing such with them, coaching them to research and plan their next step.
Foster a common risk management and operational culture within the team and encourage fruitful interaction with other key stakeholders in CIB, CIB Operations, IT and RISK.
Profile and Skills to Success
Master's Degree in Finance / Economics / Mathematics / Statistics or related.
At least 7 years of experience in Risk and Controls or similar.
At least 2 years of experience in Data Analytics or similar.
Advanced level of English, both written and oral.
Knowledge in
