Role Purpose
The Social Compliance Manager will support the implementation and monitoring of ethical labour standards and social compliance requirements on a major construction projects in {insert country} Working closely with site teams, subcontractors, and central compliance functions, the role ensures adherence to local labour legislation, client requirements, and TSL's ethical policies, including modern slavery prevention and responsible supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
Social Compliance Implementation & Site Support
* Support the day-to-day implementation of TSL's social compliance and ethical labour standards on site.
* Advise project teams and subcontractors on compliance with {insert country} employment law, posted worker requirements, and project-specific social standards.
* Verify compliance documentation.
* Act as a point of contact for site teams on social compliance–related questions and concerns.
Subcontractor & Labour Agency Engagement
* Support the vetting and onboarding of subcontractors and labour agencies against social compliance criteria.
* Review workforce documentation, including employment contracts, timesheets, payslips, right-to-work checks, and posted worker records.
* Assist in identifying potential labour risks within the supply chain and escalate concerns where necessary.
Auditing & Corrective Actions
* Support and participate in on-site social compliance audits and inspections.
* Assist in preparing audit reports, tracking findings, and supporting the close-out of corrective actions.
* Maintain accurate records of audits, findings, and improvement actions in line with internal and client requirements.
Training, Awareness & Reporting
* Deliver or support toolbox talks, briefings, and awareness sessions on ethical labour standards and modern slavery prevention.
* Collect data and contribute to the preparation of social compliance KPIs and reports for internal and client use.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned and sharing best practices.
Collaboration & Governance
* Work closely with Project Management, Procurement, HR, HSE, and the central Compliance team to embed ethical practices into daily operations.
* Support client interactions related to social compliance topics as required.
Skills and Experience Required
Essential
* Degree or professional qualification in Social Sciences, Law, Human Resources, Business, Compliance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* Good understanding of labour standards, social compliance, or ethical supply chain principles.
* Knowledge of {insert country} labour regulations and posted worker requirements
* Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with site teams and subcontractors.
* Fluent in English: additional European is a strong advantage for the project.
* Well-organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a site-based project environment.
Desirable
* Previous experience in construction, engineering, or large project environments.
* Experience supporting audits or compliance inspections.
* Familiarity with modern slavery legislation, ILO standards, or EU due diligence frameworks.
