BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently seeking a Team Leader to join our new production plant in Viana, Portugal. We are looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual.
Key Accountabilities
1. Coordinate team activities, including task assignments and production goals.
2. Train new team members on safety rules, equipment operation, 5S, assembly, and inspection processes.
3. Provide training for all team leaders and employees to achieve certification levels according to the operator certification process.
4. Respond to production orders aligning with smoothing/leveling fulfillment rates.
5. Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives focusing on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and motivation.
6. Participate in problem solving (8D, 6M, 5 Whys) related to safety and quality issues.
7. Conduct daily meetings to communicate product performance indicators such as OEE, Through-Puts, FTT, PPMs, customer incidents, scrap, breakdowns, TRIR, and safety incidents.
8. Maintain process control using tools like Preventive Maintenance, Poka-yoke, Startup Checklists, and LPA.
9. Lead, motivate, and develop team members.
10. Support operators with personal issues like absences, vacations, and personal problems.
11. Collect data necessary for production and engineering improvements.
12. Ensure adherence to control plans through daily audits.
13. Manufacture parts meeting quality and productivity standards.
14. Develop continuous improvement plans for organizational efficiency.
15. Promote effective communication within the department and across other departments.
16. Ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards at workstations.
17. Continuously improve health, safety, and environmental conditions.
18. Participate in defining, implementing, and maintaining organizational policies.
19. Contribute to the Environmental Management Policy and Health & Safety objectives.
20. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards and policies.
21. Foster a culture of professionalism and engagement among employees.
22. Adhere to the company's rules, ethics, and working regulations.
23. Perform additional tasks as necessary for organizational needs.
Education & Experience
* Secondary education, preferably with technical or professional training, or a degree in engineering or related field.
* Experience in a similar role is valued.
* Knowledge of problem-solving tools (5W, Ishikawa, PDCA, 8D) is preferred.
* Familiarity with SAP, MES, automotive standards, Lean Manufacturing tools, and inline automotive production processes is preferred.
* Strong conflict management skills.
* Results-oriented with a focus on quality.
* Fluent in Portuguese; English skills are a plus.
