Senior Accountant – International Operations We're looking for a senior-level Accountant with hands-on experience with Portuguese legislation to support our international operations in the entertainment and live events space.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership — ideal for someone who wants to go beyond bookkeeping and be involved in structuring, compliance, and decision-making across cross-border operations.
Key responsibilities Accounting & Reporting Manage full-cycle accounting under Portuguese GAAP (SNC) Prepare monthly and annual financial statements Handle reconciliations, general ledger, and closing processes Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking Ensure compliance with Zona Franca da Madeira requirements Monitor substance criteria (employment, operations, expenses) Maintain alignment with approved activity scope Support audits and documentation related to MIBC status Tax & Legal Compliance Prepare and submit VAT (IVA), IRC, and other filings Stay on top of Portuguese reporting deadlines Coordinate with authorities and external advisors Support payroll-related accounting if needed Strategic Support Advise on accounting and tax implications of international operations Work closely with legal, banking, and external partners Deliver clear financial insights to support decision-making What we're looking for Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar Certified Accountant in Portugal (Contabilista Certificado) — preferred Proven experience with Madeira (MIBC) structures Strong knowledge of Portuguese tax and accounting rules Experience with international / cross-border activity Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable Nice to have Background in entertainment, events, or services businesses Understanding of transfer pricing basics Experience with EU VAT (especially services/events) Comfortable working with legal and corporate service providers Why this role is interesting International projects in a fast-moving industry Real ownership and decision-making impact Flexible setup (can adapt workload if needed) Long-term collaboration potential R2R Senior Accountant – English Speaker (M/F/D) A global industrial company expands GBS operations and establishes a regional satellite in Portugal to support Europe operations.
This centre plays a strategic role within a hub-and-spoke model alongside the global hub in India and satellite operations in Asia.
As an R2R Oversight Accountant, you will provide effective and efficient accounting services to segments ensuring they are supported, submitting returns and complying with management accounting procedures.
Responsibilities Ensure all R2R processes at the regional level adhere to accounting standards (GAAP/IAS) to achieve reliability and integrity of financial data.
Ensure R2R internal controls / SOX requirements are performed on time.
Prepare, review, and sign-off balance sheet reconciliations.
Support the preparation and review of period close entries, general ledger accounts reconciliation and analysis.
Coordinate month-end and quarter-end reporting schedules.
Develop, track, and maintain master data KPIs, including data accuracy, completeness, and turnaround time.

Good systems knowledge, preferably SAP.
