Descrição

Research Fellowship (PhD) – Advanced Cell ModelInstituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (iBET), Oeiras, Portugal, has an open position for a research fellowship in the field of biomedicine available within the project "Glyco-TAM – Cracking glycan-lectin interactions to target immunosuppressive macrophages in triple-negative breast cancer" Ref.
PTDC/BTM-TEC/0432/2021, financed by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia.
Education:Doctorate in Biochemistry, Biology or related fields, with specialization in Glycobiology obtained less than 3 years ago.
Professional Experience:Expertise in molecular glycosciences, particularly in the study of glycan-protein interactions.Expertise in glycan microarray technology.Experience in glycoprotein (mucin)/glycan purification and analysis.Experience in molecular biology.Experience in recombinant protein production, characterization, and detection.Knowledge in oncoimmunology and tumor microenvironment will be valued.Motivation for applied biomedical research.Proficient use of the English language (written and spoken). The Glyco-TAM consortium aims to elucidate the cell-cell communication that triggers immunosuppression in tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and by which they sustain a pro-tumoral microenvironment (TME) in triple-negative breast cancers.
Specifically, the fellow will study glycan-lectin interactions between breast cancer cells and TAMs.
The fellow will employ a "human TME" cell model pioneered by our team, based on long-term 3D co-culture of human cancer cells, fibroblasts, and immune cells, combining cell entrapment in biomaterials and bioreactor technology, and explore it using glycan microarray technology and related glyco-technologies, in close collaboration between the host lab and the GlycoLab, at FCT NOVA, led by Dr. Angelina Palma.
We expect to (i) achieve a comprehensive characterization of the immunosuppressive TAM in TNBC; and (ii) propose candidate biomarkers predictive of the response to immunomodulatory drugs, as well as potential targets for novel cancer therapies.
The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of the project, without prejudice to the maximum limits foreseen by law.
The expected starting date is 1 of September of 2024.
Apply now with your detailed CV, motivation letter, and diploma certificates to ******, referring to the job reference in the subject of the email "Glyco-TAM_PD_August2024."
