NoOffer Description NOTICE NO. 18/2026COMPETITION FOR THE AWARD OF A GRANT, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE RESEARCH GRANT REGULATIONS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ALGARVETitle: 1 Research Grant (BI – Bachelor's degree holder)A call for applications is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Grant (BI – Bachelor's degree holder) within the scope of the R&D project "Iniciativa para el impulso de la competitividad y de la transformación digital del sector industrial de la Eurorregión Andalucía–Algarve–Alentejo" (EurinTech), Reference 10TT00061, funded by the Interreg VI-A Spain–Portugal (POCTEP) 2021–2027 Programme, under the following conditions:1Scientific Area: Economics; Management Sciences; Computer Science; Communication Sciences.2Admission Requirements:Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Management Sciences, Computer Science, Communication Sciences, or related fields, and must be enrolled in a Master's degree programme at the time of application or at the start of the grant period. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and research skills, as well as proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Preferential factors include:Knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R, Python or similar);Familiarity with topics related to innovation, digital transformation, industrial competitiveness or entrepreneurship;Previous experience in research activities, data collection and analysis, or participation in R&D projects;Experience in report writing and data collection/analysis;Ability to work in multidisciplinary and international teams.Taking into account paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 5 (Research Grants) of the University of Algarve Grants Regulations:"1. Research grants, hereinafter referred to as BI, are intended for R&D activities by students enrolled in an integrated master's degree, a master's degree or a doctorate, with a view to consolidating their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the award of the respective academic degree, whether or not integrated into R&D projects.2. The scholarships referred to in this article may also be intended for the performance of R&D activities by graduates or masters enrolled in non-degree courses integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units."3Project Objectives:The EurinTech project aims to strengthen the competitiveness and digital transformation of the industrial sector across the Andalucía–Algarve–Alentejo Euroregion. It addresses key structural challenges such as low innovation capacity, limited access to advanced technologies, and a fragmented innovation ecosystem. The project promotes innovation and technological adoption among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by encouraging open innovation practices, supporting the development and implementation of digital and AI-based solutions, and fostering entrepreneurship and high-impact initiatives. It also emphasizes cross-border collaboration between academia, industry, and innovation actors to enhance knowledge transfer, build capacity, and spread advanced technologies throughout the regional industrial ecosystem.The successful candidate will contribute to EurinTech by supporting research and analytical work focused on innovation, digital transformation, and industrial competitiveness. Responsibilities include assisting with data collection, processing, and analysis; contributing to technical and scientific reports; and supporting the implementation of project activities such as stakeholder mapping, analysis, and engagement. The role also involves developing skills in applied research and data analysis, as well as contributing to communication and dissemination efforts, including outreach strategies and the organization of workshops.5Workplace: The work will be carried out at CinTurs - Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being, University of Algarve, under the scientific supervision of Professor Hugo Pinto.6Duration of the grant: The grant has an initial duration of 12 months, starting in June 2026. The contract may be renewed, subject to performance and project needs, up to a maximum end date of 30 June 2028, in accordance with the University of Algarve Research Grant Regulations. ( https://files.dre.pt/2s/2021/10/210000000/0013700149.pdf ).8Candidate evaluation: In accordance with the provisions of Article 11.2 of the University of Algarve Research Grant Regulations, applicants must demonstrate interest in the project's thematic area, and will be evaluated according to the following criteria:Academic merit of the candidate (40%): includes academic qualifications, curricular path, and overall academic performance.Relevant experience and skills (40%): includes prior professional involvement in research activities (10%), including participation in projects and integration into research groups; scientific output (10%), namely the preparation of articles or reports, demonstrating the candidate's ability to perform analytical tasks related to projects with autonomy and rigor; experience in the organization of scientific events (10%), supporting dissemination and stakeholder engagement; experience in the management and creation of digital tools, such as applications or websites (10%), aligned with the project's focus on digital transformation.Language proficiency in Portuguese, English, and Spanish (20%): assessed to ensure effective communication (spoken and written) in a cross-border and multidisciplinary context.9The evaluation process may include an interview with the candidates or a portion of them, to be selected by the Evaluation Panel, which may have a maximum weighting of 20%.10Composition of the Application Evaluation Panel: The Application Evaluation Panel is composed of three full members and one alternate (all PhDs):Hugo Pinto (President) (Associate Professor with Habilitation, Faculty of Economics);Ana Rita Cruz (Full Member) (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Economics);Jennifer Elston (Full Member) (Invited Assistant Professor, Faculty of Economics);Carla Nogueira (Alternate Member) (Invited Assistant Professor, Faculty of Economics).11Publication/Notification of Results: The final evaluation results will be published on the UAlg website in a list ranked by final grade, and the successful candidate will be notified by email.12Application Deadline and Submission Method: The competition is open from23/04/2026 to 07/05/2026.13Applications must be accompanied by the following documents:Official identification document (simple copy or legal equivalent). Applicants of non-Portuguese nationality must present a residence permit, permanent residence certificate, or long-term resident status, valid on the scholarship start date. Any of these may be replaced, in its absence, by a declaration of honor by the candidate. However, this must be submitted during the scholarship contracting phase, under penalty of forfeiture of the scholarship award;Copies of academic degree certificates, indicating the final grade and, where possible, the grades obtained in all completed courses;Motivation letter clearly outlining the candidate's interest in the project topic and the areas in which they believe they can contribute most;A writing sample to demonstrate language proficiency in Portuguese, English and/or Spanish (e.g., published articles, reports, dissertations, or undergraduate thesis or essays);Any other documents the candidate considers relevant;14Documents to be submitted for the scholarship agreement:Tax Identification Number (NIF) information. Applicants of non-Portuguese nationality must hold a valid Portuguese Tax Identification Number (NIF) at the time of signing the scholarship agreement, under penalty of forfeiture of the scholarship award;Documents proving that the applicant meets the requirements for the respective type of scholarship, namely, proof of enrollment and registration and the study cycle or course that does not confer an academic degree;Declaration of the supervisor(s) assuming responsibility for the supervision of the work plan, in accordance with Article 5-A of the Research Scholarship Statute, as well as ensuring the necessary conditions for the successful development of the work and compliance with the duties set forth in Article 13 of the Research Scholarship Statute;d.
