Mechanical Project Lead

Mission of the Role: As part of the Mechanical product architecture, you are responsible for interacting with the program management/pursuit lead and mechanical experts (ME Core) to ensure all mechanical deliverables are on track.
Key Objectives of this Role:
1. Specifications to ME lead:
* With good leadership skills to manage a ME group to define the mechanical structures that are required to support the module needs that meet customer specifications, cost targets, reliability targets, and manufacturing.
* To manage the project according to automotive development flow, ensuring that all deliverables are on track.
Support the request for quotation (RFQ) process by:
* Implementing the mechanical architectures in the quotation phase.
* Generating the needed design documents to show compliance for internal and external review.
* Presenting to internal and external customers the defense of the design in a technical forum.
* Meeting with internal and external customers to understand and resolve potential technical issues.
Leading technical product development by:
* Leading the initial phase of the design as it transfers from quote phase to execution phase.
* Interfacing with customer and advanced engineering teams to understand current and future architectures, requirements, and technology needs.
* Participating in the onboarding of new technologies and suppliers.
* Establishing engineering process compliance needed to validate the design.
* Playing a lead role in technical and complex problem solving when design issues arise.

Key Year One Deliverables:
* Developing and securing approval of basic module architecture and elements.
* Developing and securing approval of mechanical roadmap to support electrification roadmap.
* Providing quote support for the electrification pursuits.
* Leading the mechanical engineering team for project execution.
Qualification, Experience and Skills:
* Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical engineering
* At least 1 project lead experience from RFQ to SOP, good knowledge in managing a mechanical team/project according to global automotive design flow (project manager experience is preferred)
* Minimum five years of experience in automotive design in global tier 1 or OEM
* Some knowledge of the mechanical system design of vehicle charging system electronics or powertrain modules (not mandatory).
* An in-depth knowledge of the mechanical system design of power electronics systems including inverters, On-Board chargers, DC/DC (not mandatory)
* An in-depth knowledge of enclosure design, thermal management, structural design, sealing, interconnections, PCB, and material selection for in cabin and exterior of cabin environments
* Experience in designs using sheet metal, plastic moldings, extrusions, and castings including design for manufacturing reviews.
* Experience in quoting process, design and launch of high-volume power electronics for mass production
* Experience in interacting with internal stakeholders and external customers at the OEM or Tier 1 level
* Experience in requirement analysis and issue management (Doors, Jira…)
* Experience in ASIL-D, DFMEA and other quality documents
* Failure analysis and testing experience
* Strong understanding of design for module level reliability
* Understanding of EMC/ESD and circuit design
* Experience in CAD systems (Catia Preferred, Tc database…)
* Experience in BOM release process
* Experience in structural or thermal simulation tools (Preferred)
* Good English skill (mandatory)
