About the Role
The Head of Cultivation is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of cultivation operations at Curaleaf. This role ensures optimal plant health, strict compliance with regulations, and meeting ambitious production goals. You will lead a cultivation team and collaborate closely with other departments, including compliance, production, and quality assurance.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
* Cultivation Management: Overseeing all stages of the cultivation process (propagation, vegetative, and flowering), developing strategies to maximize yields and cannabinoid content, and ensuring adherence to Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) and local regulations.
* Operations Leadership: Managing and mentoring the cultivation, harvest, and post-harvest teams, providing training, and coordinating with other department heads (e.g., extraction, quality control) to streamline company operations.
* Post-Harvest Oversight: Supervising post-harvest processes such as trimming, drying, curing, and packaging, while monitoring inventory levels and working closely with the Quality team to ensure accurate documentation.
* Compliance & Reporting: Maintaining accurate records for all cultivation, harvest, and post-harvest activities to ensure traceability, and collaborating with quality assurance and compliance teams for inspections and audits.
* Strategic Improvement: Leading and developing relevant improvement plans and investments in alignment with the company's strategic direction.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who is driven to deliver excellence and embodies our value to Lead & Inspire. The ideal candidate has proven leadership and problem-solving skills, coupled with deep technical expertise in large-scale agriculture.
Experience Requirements:
* Working within a highly regulated QA environment (EU GMP, GACP, ISO, etc.)
* Hands-on experience in large-scale agricultural operations
* Leadership of large teams (50+). This experience being within the cannabis industry would be beneficial but not essential.
* A Bachelor's degree in horticulture, agronomy, botany, or a related field is desirable
Key Skills and Knowledge:
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant biology, nutrient management, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and advanced cultivation techniques such as hydroponics, aeroponics, or soil-based growing.
* Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team, focusing on operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with cannabis regulations and compliance requirements in the state of operation.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Capability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to plant health, facility management, and production processes.
Fluency in English is essential, and fluency in Portuguese would be advantageous.
