Founding Engineer
About the Role
We're seeking a Founding Engineer to join us in building the future of cloud cost intelligence.
You'll be employee #1 on the engineering side, working directly with the founders to architect and build our LLM-powered platform that helps companies understand and optimize their cloud spending across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
This is a unique opportunity to shape both the technology and culture of a company from day one.
You'll have significant ownership over the product and the chance to solve a massive problem affecting every company using cloud infrastructure.
What You'll Do
Build from 0 to 1
: Design and implement core architecture decisions that will scale with the company
Full-stack ownership
: Work across our Python backend (LLM agents, cloud integrations) and Rails frontend
High-performance async systems
: Design efficient concurrent systems that handle thousands of API calls to cloud providers simultaneously
Cloud cost intelligence
: Create innovative solutions for analyzing and optimizing cloud spending patterns using AI
Multi-cloud integration
: Build robust connections to AWS, GCP, and Azure APIs to gather and process cost data
LLM agent development
: Design and implement intelligent agents that can understand, analyze, and provide actionable insights on cloud costs
Technical leadership
: As we grow, help build and mentor the engineering team while maintaining hands-on coding
What We're Looking For
Technical Skills
2-4+ years of software development experience
(we care more about impact than years)
Python proficiency
: Strong experience with async/await patterns, FastAPI, and building efficient concurrent systems
Some Rails/Ruby experience
or willingness to learn quickly (doesn't need to be expert level)
Cloud platform familiarity
: Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS/GCP/Azure)
API integration experience
: You've built systems that connect to external services at scale
Basic understanding of LLMs
: You've experimented with OpenAI/Anthropic APIs or similar (deep expertise not required)
Mindset & Approach
Builder mentality
: You're excited to create something from scratch and iterate rapidly based on customer feedback
Curiosity about AI
: Eager to explore how LLMs can solve real business problems
Cost-conscious
: You understand that cloud costs are a real pain point and are passionate about solving this
Pragmatic
: You know when to build for perfection and when to ship and iterate
Self-directed
: Comfortable with ambiguity and can turn high-level goals into executed features
Open learner
: Ready to pick up new technologies and wear multiple hats as needed
Nice to Have (But Not Required)
Experience with DSPy or LangGraph for agent orchestration
Deep knowledge of Python async internals (asyncio, event loops, connection pooling)
Experience with cloud cost management tools (AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing, etc.)
Background in FinOps or cloud optimization
Experience with data visualization or analytics platforms
Prior startup experience (especially early-stage)
Contributions to open source projects
Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
