Electrical Design Engineer Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
About the Role

You will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical designs meet the necessary specifications and requirements, while maintaining excellent communication and teamwork skills. You will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to design, develop, and implement electrical systems for various applications.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Quality Standards are met in all designs;
* Collaborating with other engineering disciplines to ensure an optimum design solution is reached;
* Designing works, including compilation and review of M&I Listings;
* Electrical load balances, MIC load calculations, Medium Voltage design, Generator design and sizing, General electrical services design, Lighting and emergency lighting designs, Earthing and Lightning protection designs, Cable sizing/cable schedules, Review I/O of listings, Review of control panel drawings schematics, Review of specialist reports on harmonics and selection of equipment to mitigate the harmonics, Solar PV generation and battery storage and renewable generators for small applications, Procurement of packages for LV works, Procurement packages for MV works, Procure and manage 3rd party design consultants, Provide technical and commercial review of tender returns, Handover to site delivery teams, Preparation and pricing of tender submissions;
* Promoting and Advocating Key Themes from Business Strategy and encouraging the use of innovative technology and ways of working;
* Harnessing opportunities and mitigating risk through effective design and risk mitigation measures;
* Embedding Local Asset Standards, Electrical Standards, WIMES, etc into Respective Designs and keeping appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD);
* Other duties as required from time to time.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* A Relevant Electrical/Electronic Engineering Qualification and a minimum of 5 years' experience working in a similar role, preferably in the water and wastewater industry;
* Experience in Electrical Engineering Works, including but not limited to: LV power distribution systems, LV motor control systems VSD's, soft-starts, intelligent starters etc., Ability to interrogate all electrical design drawings and panel schematics, Ability to develop sub-contractor electrical design/work packages, Ability to draft using AutoCad, electrical layouts and standard installation details, Knowledge and experience in electrical design packages such as Etap, Trimble Design Products (Amtech), Dialux, Eplan, Autodesk Products etc is desirable, Knowledge and experience in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, network architecture and development, communications protocols, etc is desirable, Knowledge of Medium Voltage electrical equipment and design is desirable, but not essential, Ability to work under pressure to deliver project objectives, Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery, Excellent working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project, Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation;
* Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills with fluency in written and spoken English, excellent planning, organisational, training, teamwork, problem resolution and presentation skills, excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, and a full Clean European driving licence.
