Head of tax compliance

Responsible for overseeing the Group's core tax compliance processes, managing tax operations, and ensuring adherence to local and international tax regulations. The role will build and lead a team of tax professionals dedicated to delivering tax compliance across our geographies in an efficient, frictionless manner, and supporting the business with the tax insight and data to make sound commercial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance

* Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns and filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, working with external partners as appropriate.
* Manage compliance for all applicable local, state, federal, and international tax laws and regulations.
* Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to manage tax audits and inquiries efficiently.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations within the tax team and ensure the Group’s compliance processes are aligned with regulatory changes.

Tax Operations

* Develop and maintain processes and systems with a continuous improvement mindset to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting, filing and payment journeys.
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the tax ops team, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
* Contribute to developing and implementing strategies to optimize the company’s tax position through data-driven insight.
* Working with tax business partners, collaborate with finance, legal, and business units to provide tax-related support on transactions, contracts, and business initiatives.

Leadership and Team Management

* Contribute to tax strategy as a member of the global tax leadership team.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, ensuring continuous professional development and high performance.
* Lead the team through change as we build out new processes and ways of working.
* Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication within the tax department and across the organization.
* Set clear goals and performance expectations for the tax ops team.

Risk Management and Compliance

* Identify and mitigate tax risks, ensuring robust internal controls are in place and are functioning effectively.
* Develop and maintain tax risk management policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards.
* Build out assurance programme for tax compliance, including conducting regular reviews to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

* Advanced degree (or equivalent certification) in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax operations and compliance, insurance industry background preferred.
* Proven track record of successfully managing tax compliance and operations in a multinational environment.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical practices and corporate governance.
* Working knowledge of local and international tax laws and regulations.
* Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess tax risks and develop effective solutions.
* Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax information clearly and concisely.
* Technical Expertise: Understanding of tax laws, regulations, and practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge to complex tax issues.
* Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement effective tax strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
* Ethics and Integrity: Commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity in all tax-related matters.
