The Role
Reporting to the Technology director for your tribe, you will form part of the technology leadership team.
You'll deliver and communicate an architectural vision and roadmap for the tribe the that is understood and supported by the whole business and that provides clear, achievable principles and direction for the technology teams to follow.
You'll bring pragmatism to discussions, and help the Tribe strike the right balance between near term business value and setting it up for success for the long haul.
You'll enjoy relationships with technologists and commercial and operational stakeholders alike, and they will have have confidencein your ability to facilitate us building the right solution well.
You'll partner with product and commercial colleagues in solvingbusiness and customer problems.
You will form part the divisional architecture chapter. Helping toshape the strategic direction of common platforms for all our products.
What You Will Be Doing
Responsible for providing strong leadership to a team of Lead Architects, Senior Architects and Solutions Architects, being obsessed about guiding them to deliver the right solution whilst creating a culture that is collaborative, delivery and change focused.
Help create a strategic architecture vision, direction and principles which align with the wider business.
Drive continuous improvement in architectural processes and ways of working.
Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and architectural approaches and promote alignment between technology and business strategy.
Promote continuous improvement and progression within the architecture team.
Form effective business relationships, foster an open culture of collaboration and innovation within the architecture team and with other functions.
Foster a good balance of autonomy and cross-tribe coordination to deliver flexibility and/or greater efficiency and integration as appropriate.
Promote a team culture of an inclusive, diverse. and respectful working environment.
Demonstrate the ability to make firm decisions in challenging scenarios for the overall benefit of the Tribe.
Represent the Tribe and its Leadership team at meetings and forums outside of the tribe.
Be a strong team player. able to work effectively across boundaries and within the Tribe Leadership Team.
Help shape the Tribe's risk management process, taking ownership and tracking actions to deliver mitigation.
Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained and governance is applied in line with legislative, regulatory and business-wide requirements.
Working with colleagues across the UKI division to help shape and drive forward platforms strategies and architectures.
What You'll Bring
You will be experienced in leading teams of architects and have a deep understanding of architectural principles and engineering good practice.
You have practical experience of designing systems that operate at scale.
Able to influence decisions, communities and strategy across the business.
Strong stakeholder management skills, able to understand and relay strategic objectives and plans and drive alignment Structured thinking and a clear ability to plan and deliver business outcomes. Ability to set priorities and focus teams on what is most important.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to explain complex technical challenges a simple and effective manner
