We are looking for a highly organized, proactive, and hands-on Hostel Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the hostel and ensure an exceptional guest experience. Your Mission As Hostel Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the hostel, managing staff, maximizing occupancy and revenue, maintaining operational excellence, and ensuring every guest receives outstanding service. This is a leadership position requiring strong operational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a genuine passion for hospitality. Key Responsibilities Operations Management Oversee the daily operation of the hostel. Ensure smooth check-ins and check-outs. Monitor occupancy, room allocation, and guest flow. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and safety. Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, reception, and activity teams. Ensure all operational procedures are followed consistently. Team Leadership Recruit, train, and manage hostel staff. Create and manage staff schedules. Lead daily briefings and operational meetings. Monitor team performance and service quality. Foster a positive and professional work environment. Guest Experience Deliver exceptional customer service. Handle guest requests, complaints, and special situations. Monitor guest reviews and online reputation. Implement improvements based on guest feedback. Ensure guests have a memorable and enjoyable stay. Revenue & Sales Monitor occupancy and booking performance. Optimize pricing and inventory across booking channels. Work closely with the sales and marketing teams. Identify upselling opportunities for surf lessons, activities, events, and accommodation upgrades. Support the achievement of monthly revenue targets. Administration & Reporting Manage operational budgets and expenses. Track KPIs and operational performance. Prepare weekly and monthly reports. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Manage supplier relationships and purchasing needs. Requirements Essential Previous experience in hospitality management, hostel management, hotel operations, tourism, or customer service leadership. Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent communication skills in English. Ability to solve problems under pressure. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays when required. Eligible to work in Portugal. Preferred Additional languages (French, Spanish, German, or Portuguese). Experience with PMS systems and OTA platforms (Booking.com, Hostelworld, Airbnb, Expedia).
