Job Overview
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) works as a direct interface and key contact towards TE’s Supply Base. Responsible for continuous Quality Performance improvements, ensuring that Suppliers fulfill ISO9001, IATF 16949, and TE specific requirements.
The SQE acts as an ASQ (Advanced Supplier Quality) and manages the Supplier APQP process, from technical review to PPAP approval, and supports the Safe Launch process. Acts as the main interface during pre-serial stages.
The SQE also acts as an SDE (Supplier Development Engineer), owning the Supplier Development Program and Onboarding process for Quality topics. The SQE is an expert in QMS (ISO 9001/IATF16949), LEAN tools, Problem Solving tools, and TE systems, supporting procurement in cost improvement workshops.
Ensures proper communication and supports cross-functional activities with external suppliers.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Quality key contact and account owner for assigned suppliers/commodities.
* Define and track Performance Agreements.
* Organize and perform supplier scorecard reviews, business reviews, complaint reviews, and other management reviews.
* Support IQE with escalation on complaint handling and chargeback processes.
* Lead audits at suppliers per the audit plan.
* Support supplier selection and approval processes.
* Perform potential analysis at new suppliers.
* Train and own the supplier onboarding process for quality.
* Verify CQI certifications and support system development according to IATF.
* Support supplier cost improvement workshops with procurement.
* Support APQP process with sourcing decisions and meetings.
* Perform technical and feasibility reviews.
* Support PPAP process and safe launch tracking.
* Define quality inspection criteria for incoming inspection.
* Responsible for Run @ Rate events and complaint handling until safe launch completion.
Background requirements:
* Fluent in English and French.
* Expert knowledge of ISO9001, VDA 6.3, IATF16949, ISO 14000, and automotive standards.
* Certified (supplier) auditor or VDA 6.3 / IATF 16949 2nd party auditor.
* Knowledge of specific product/process (e.g., molding, stamping).
* Familiar with supplier APQP tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, CP, MSA, SPC, R@R, 8D.
* Effective across cultures and countries.
* Thorough knowledge of problem-solving tools (5-Why, Ishikawa diagrams, Fault Tree).
* Process and system auditor skills mandatory.
* Basic SAP knowledge.
* Knowledge of GD&T and technical drawing reading skills.
