Join Our Team as a Financial Controller (M/F) - Portugal at Neoen
Our Finance Europe team is seeking a Financial Controller based in Portugal, working across the Nordics countries with occasional travel. As a Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include:
1. Financial Procedures and Statutory Compliance
- Coordinating financial information between local teams and external accounting partners, supervising their work.
- Processing invoices and payments.
- Ensuring proper controls over accounting operations such as invoicing electricity generated, receivables, and payments.
- Enhancing the accuracy of annual financial statements and ensuring compliance with local GAAPs.
- Participating in external audits for statutory and group purposes.
- Providing input and assisting in implementing internal controls.
- Budgeting and Reporting
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including monthly follow-up on construction budgets and cash positions.
- Analyzing variances between actuals and forecasts/budgets.
- Preparing monthly reports, cash flow forecasts, and semi-annual consolidation packages, ensuring compliance with group procedures.
- Taxes
- Managing local tax returns in collaboration with external accountants.
- Reviewing tax aspects within financial models.
- Corporate Finance and Bank Relations
- Preparing debt drawdowns during project construction.
- Calculating debt covenants and preparing mandatory reports.
- Maintaining relationships with bank agents.
- Leading distributions.
- Support to Business Development
- Participating early in projects with Development, Legal, and Financing teams, reviewing business plans, and supporting financial closings.
- Supporting tax structuring and efficiency at the project level.
- Reviewing Share Purchase and Shareholders Agreements during joint ventures.
- Assisting development teams with due diligences and M&A integrations.
Qualifications include a finance degree, approximately 5 years of experience in audit or financial roles (preferably in a multinational environment), and fluency in English. Experience in the energy sector is a plus. We're looking for someone reliable, autonomous, rigorous, analytical, proactive, and solution-oriented, with strong communication skills and a good business sense. An appetite for international work and willingness to travel are essential. Please submit your CV in English.
