Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to oversee the day-to-day operations of our SQL Server databases. This is a unique opportunity to work with a leading insurance group, leveraging your expertise to ensure the smooth functioning of our database infrastructure.
* Database Operations: Responsible for managing and maintaining our SQL Server databases, including tasks such as backups, restores, and recovery models.
* General Database Services: Provide support for productive systems, including responding to incidents, changes, and requests within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Maintenance and Optimization: Ensure the optimal performance of our databases through regular maintenance, tuning, and optimization activities.
* Migration and Upgrades: Assist in the planning and execution of database migrations, upgrades, and copies, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.
* Support and Consultation: Offer expert advice and guidance to customers on database-related matters, providing 24x7 support and resolving issues independently.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role.
* Familiarity with MySQL Server Administration.
* Proficiency in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) techniques.
* Hands-on experience with backup, restore, and recovery models.
* Knowledge of automation, industrialization, and improvement techniques for database infrastructure (scripting and Puppet).
* Understanding of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
* Basic knowledge of Windows server, including Active Directory (a plus).
* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Fluency in English.
