Job Description
We are seeking a Kubernetes Database Engineer to architect, deploy, and maintain database systems within Kubernetes environments. This role focuses on delivering resilient, scalable, and automated data platforms using cloud-native principles.
Key responsibilities include:
Deploying, operating, and tuning stateful database solutions on Kubernetes, with a focus on PostgreSQL
Designing and implementing storage solutions, backup and recovery processes, replication mechanisms, and high availability/disaster recovery strategies
Building and maintaining automation for database provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines
Monitoring system health, performance, and reliability, and resolving issues across both database and Kubernetes layers
Enforcing security best practices, including role-based access control (RBAC), data encryption, secret management, and network policies
Working closely with DevOps, Platform Engineering, and development teams to design and evolve database-as-a-service solutions
Qualifications
Proven experience managing databases in Kubernetes environments
Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production settings
Solid understanding of Kubernetes concepts, including stateful workloads, storage classes, and operators
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Ansible
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices
Knowledge of backup/restore strategies, replication, and high availability architectures
Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
Strong understanding of security best practices in cloud-native environments
Good collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams
