Fabric Developer
What will you do?
A day in the life of a Fabric Designer at Dickies looks a little like this.
The Fabric Developer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Fabric Development Department and meeting all GTM deadlines for seasonal development. This position will help develop fabric that supports the delivery of manufacturing ready products that are in line with aesthetic and sourcing strategies, cost, and quality. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Raw Materials and Innovation.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
* Execute design and fit intent into bulk production while maintaining corporate standards.
* Ensure the seasonal fabric development on time delivery.
* Work with the design team to select the new seasonal fabric based on the requested fabric construction and functional finishes.
* Working with Eastern/Western Hemisphere GMS teams and fabric suppliers on fabric options based on design briefs:
o gather and evaluating fabric information
o reviewing and commenting on initial testing results for fabric approval
o following up on new fabric trials.
* Review fabric testing results against fabric specifications and advising approval status to fabric suppliers and GMS team.
* Assist with color/wash review as needed with the QA, PD, and Design team.
* Initiate and follow up on the color lab dip, yarn dye hand loom, and print strike-off approvals.
* Set up fabric in ERP and PLM systems.
* Review the fabric affidavit with the custom compliance team and QA
* Maintain physical fabric library and build electronic fabric information file.
* Maintain approved fabric files.
* Manage incoming and outgoing mail for the department.
* Special projects as needed by Senior Manager.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 3-5 years of experience and professional achievements.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
* Excellent written and communications skills; Ability to work with multiple departments
* Strong working knowledge of fibers and fabrics (woven and knit)
* Familiar with fabric dyeing (piece dye and yarn dye), printing, and finishing
* Knowledge in denim wash a plus
* Strong analytical and organizational skills
* Need to have strong computer skills in Excel, Word, Power Point. Knowledge in Database programs a plus
* Multilingual communications considered a plus
* 2+ years in fabric or equivalent product development experience in apparel
* Experience with web-based PLM system preferred

Hiring Range: $69,984.00 USD - $87,480.00 USD annually
Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
