Financial Market Data & Research Operations Specialist – Hybrid Algarve, Portugal

We're excited to help our client, a
fast-growing, well-funded American startup
in the
financial research technology industry,
to
build their team in the Algarve.

Overview

And we're hiring a
Research Operations Specialist
to support the ingestion, entitlement, and data-governance workflows that power Aiera's global research ecosystem.

The ideal candidate has 3–6 years of hands-on experience in
financial market data or research operations
, particularly within sell-side, buy-side, or data-vendor environments.

Candidates with experience managing
sell-side content, vendor integrations, or entitlement frameworks
at banks, data vendors, or financial research platforms are strongly encouraged to apply.

NOTE:

* This is
not
a traditional equity research role
. It is designed for professionals who understand how sell-side research content and market data are
structured, tagged, and distributed
— not those who author research reports.
* This is
not a data engineering role
,. The role is administrative and operational with a
focus on data governance, entitlement management, and research content validation
—
not
on building data pipelines or coding.

This is a
hybrid role
based in the Algarve region (Loulé / Faro)
, Algarve
(2–3 days/week at the office), requiring 2–3 days per week at the office.

Competitive compensation (€40,000–€50,000 gross annually) plus relocation support for candidates moving to Portugal and seeking a Mediterranean lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research Ingestion & Entitlement Management

* Own end-to-end workflows for ingesting research feeds, entitlement updates, and metadata validation from multiple sell-side providers.
* Manage provider relationships, onboarding new feeds, and coordinating with engineering and compliance teams.

2. Vendor & Internal Collaboration

* Serve as a primary liaison between vendor contacts and Aiera's Research Operations and Engineering teams.
* Maintain documentation, SOPs, and process maps for all ingestion and entitlement workflows.
* Identify inefficiencies or pipeline issues and collaborate on measurable process improvements.

Support change management and testing cycles for new entitlement or ingestion frameworks.

Skills and Experience

1. Must have Experience

1. 3–6 years
in
financial-market research operations
(sell-side, buy-side, or financial data vendor).
2. Experience managing
entitlements, SFTP/API ingestion, or content operations
for research data.
3. Familiarity with
RIXML, GICS, ISIN, CUSIP
, and market-data naming conventions.

2. Technical Skills

1. Proficiency with Excel; experience using SQL, BI tools, or analytics dashboards to validate and reconcile datasets.
2. Familiarity with APIs, SFTP, and data-integration methods to work with research data feeds (e.g. Bloomberg, Refinitiv)
3. Experience with project-management or workflow platforms (e.g.,, Jira, Confluence).

3. Soft Skills

1. Strong organizational and analytical capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
2. Ability to manage multiple provider workflows simultaneously.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; able to convey technical information clearly.
4. Proactive, ownership-driven approach — able to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced, data-intensive, international environment.

4. Education

1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field.

What You'll Gain

* Direct collaboration with global financial market data providers.
* Ownership over the ingestion and entitlement backbone of Aiera's AI research platform.
* Growth opportunities into data-governance or operational-architecture roles in a scaling fintech firm.
* Support to relocate and enjoy the celebrated Algarve lifestyle shared by many international professionals.
