As Senior Pharmacy Account Manager you will serve as the senior commercial lead in country for Tanner Pharma's engagement with pharmacies, and hospital pharmacies in Portugal. You will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding pharmacy relationships, navigating tender and funding environments, and ensuring high-quality, compliant execution across the market.
This is a senior role requiring deep market knowledge, strong pharmacy and hospital relationships, and a solid understanding of medicine access, tenders, and funding mechanisms in Portugal.
Role Accountabilities
Expected Responsibilities for the Senior Pharmacy Account Manager are:
Country Strategy
Lead execution of the Direct-to-Pharmacy strategy in Portugal.
Define and execute country-level growth tactics aligned with global commercial objectives.
Act as the primary commercial lead for all pharmacy and hospital customers within the market
Build, maintain and expand trusted, long-term relationships with key pharmacy and hospital stakeholders, buying groups, and health system partners.
Identify new commercial opportunities across products, therapeutic areas, and distribution pathways appropriate for the local market.
Monitor market dynamics including drug shortages, access pathways, and policy changes
Develop strong expertise in national and regional funding and reimbursement mechanisms
Sales & Account Leadership
Own the full sales cycle for Direct-to-Pharmacy accounts in Portugal, from initial inquiry through pricing, negotiation, contract close, and repeat business.
Provide leadership and management to Pharmacy Account Managers supporting the market.
Lead complex negotiations, customer escalations, and strategic account planning.
Define and execute pricing strategies that balance competitiveness, margin discipline, and risk
Lead participation in national and regional tenders, bulk purchasing agreements, and competitive procurement processes.
Contribute to territory forecasting, sales reviews, and performance discussions.
Operational Execution
Own end-to-end operational performance of the Direct-to-Pharmacy model, ensuring seamless order fulfillment, regulatory compliance, and high service quality.
Serve as the primary escalation point for operational, service, or compliance issues affecting pharmacy and hospital customers.
Partner closely with Customer Service, Regulatory, Quality, Logistics, and Finance teams to ensure commercial commitments are operationally achievable and compliant.
Monitor service performance trends
Drive continuous improvement across processes, service levels, and customer experience.
Provide clarity and alignment across country or regional initiatives to avoid overlap or execution risk
Ensure local execution remains aligned with global commercial principles and policies.
Market Insight & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Understand local funding and access pathways for unlicensed and specialty medicines, providing market insights to leadership.
Collaborate with Regulatory, Quality, Logistics, and Customer Support teams to ensure compliant and timely fulfillment.
Desired Candidate Profile & Capabilities
Required:
Senior-level commercial experience within pharmaceutical sales, hospital pharmacy, or healthcare distribution.
Strong experience working directly with pharmacies and hospital pharmacies in Portugal.
Proven understanding of tender processes, public or institutional procurement, and healthcare funding mechanisms.
Demonstrated success in strategic account management and revenue growth within a regulated environment.
Strong commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and pricing acumen.
Location: Portugal
Language skills: Portuguese and English
Preferred Qualifications
Pharmacy degree (BPharm, MPharm, PharmD) or equivalent healthcare qualification strongly preferred.
Experience supporting access to unlicensed, early access, or specialty medicines is an advantage.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience €45,000 - €51,000 per year.
