This role is central to Biorbis’ ability to scale innovation, ensuring day-to-day execution is consistent, timely, and of the highest quality.
This is not a research role, but rather a leadership position that brings process discipline, operational clarity, and execution excellence to a high-performing scientific team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in operations or industrial engineering, with experience managing complex workflows in biotech, life sciences, or laboratory-intensive environments, and a solid understanding of how scientific and R&D teams operate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program & Task Execution Leadership
• Lead the coordination of scientific project execution, including assay setup, experimental planning, and data delivery to R&D and Innovation teams.
• Ensure clear planning, accountability, and proactive problem-solving across multiple concurrent projects.
• Identify and address risks or bottlenecks in execution and delivery.
2. Data & Quality Management
• Oversee the systems for collecting, storing, curating, and distributing experimental data across functions.
• Implement structured processes for data quality control in collaboration with scientific leads.
• Ensure traceability, reproducibility, and compliance with internal and external standards.
3. Operational Systems & Tools Excellence
• Lead the implementation and improvement of digital tools (e.g., ELNs, LIMS, Airtable, Notion, Asana) that enable efficient tracking, documentation, and coordination.
• Maintain and evolve SOPs to support operational consistency and scientific reproducibility.
• Own the operational dashboards and KPIs that reflect performance, quality, and delivery timelines.
4. Cross-functional Enablement & Culture of Excellence
• Act as the bridge between laboratory operations, innovation, and business strategy.
• Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and process improvement.
• Mentor and support team members in operational best practices and execution mindset.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial engineering, operations management, biotechnology, life sciences, or a related field.
• 6–10 years of experience in operational or project leadership roles within biotech, pharma, or laboratory-intensive industries.
• Proven success in designing and managing systems and workflows that support technical or scientific execution.
• Familiarity with biological assay workflows, laboratory planning, or experimental design environments (hands-on lab experience not required but advantageous).
• Proficient in project management and digital platforms used in scientific environments (e.g., Airtable, Benchling, LIMS, ELNs, Notion).
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills; able to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Success Metrics (Balanced Scorecard Framework):
1. Product Innovation & Science
• Timely and complete execution of scientific tasks that feed the product development pipeline.
• Accurate and reliable delivery of data packages to R&D and innovation teams.
2. Strategic Value Creation
• Enable cross-functional project delivery that supports commercialization and scaling.
• Operational input contributes to improved time-to-value and reduced rework.
3. Operational Excellence
• 90% of scientific tasks executed on time and within scope.
• Operational systems (dashboards, SOPs, digital tools) are fully adopted and audited.
• Measurable improvements in lab productivity, turnaround time, and process compliance.
4. People & Capabilities
• High team engagement scores related to clarity, systems, and workload management.
• Training and onboarding systems are implemented and improve ramp-up time.
• Culture of discipline, ownership, and continuous improvement is embedded across the teams.
