Overview
About the Role— As a Process Engineer with proven expertise in laser soldering of metals, you will be part of our growing team at Preh Portugal (Trofa), contributing to the development and maintenance of innovative automotive technologies. You'll work in a dynamic, international environment, using the latest tools and platforms to tackle real-world challenges.
Responsibilities
- Support the industrialization of new products, ensuring seamless integration into production.
- Drive continuous improvement on the application of the Laser Soldering Process on metal pieces.
- Design and define efficient assembly processes and required production resources.
- Create detailed technical specifications for new or adapted production lines.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Planning teams to optimize processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare for and support internal audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Optimize assembly line equipment to improve overall efficiency, reduce waste, and support lean manufacturing.
- Implement equipment changes or upgrades in response to product updates or innovations.
- Coordinate and align all stakeholders involved in process development and implementation.
- Document existing and updated processes, ensuring traceability through official change management procedures.
- Develop clear and structured Work Instructions (ITs) aligned with VDA 6.1 requirements.
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience in laser soldering processes for metallic materials.
- A degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in electronic or mechanical engineering, ideally in the automotive industry.
- Preferably with knowledge of assembly processes for electric mobility products, such as BMS (Battery Management Systems), OBC (On-Board Chargers), and Boosters.
- A strong mindset for continuous improvement and process excellence.
- Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies and lean principles.
- Solid MS Office skills.
- Fluency in English — both written and spoken.
