Role Description
This is a part-time, remote role for a Web Developer to redevelop and maintain our organisational website. The current site was built using Wix; we are now looking to migrate it to a more flexible, long-term solution - either a different website builder (e.g. Webflow, WordPress, or similar) or a custom HTML/CSS/JavaScript build, depending on the developer's recommendations.
This role combines technical implementation with light creative input. In addition to rebuilding the site, the developer will work with us on an ongoing basis to maintain the website, create new pages, and suggest improvements to structure, layout, and readability as the organisation grows. We are particularly interested in someone who can think holistically about user experience and content flow, not just code.
Key Responsibilities
* Redevelop the existing Turaath Tech website using a more flexible and scalable framework or platform
* Advise on the most appropriate technical solution based on our needs, capacity, and long-term maintenance
* Migrate existing content from Wix and improve site structure, navigation, and layout where appropriate
* Create new pages as needed (e.g. project pages, blog posts, reports, announcements)
* Maintain the website on an ongoing basis, including updates, fixes, and small design or content adjustments
* Collaborate with the team to improve clarity, flow, and presentation of written content
* Ensure the website is responsive, accessible, and optimised for performance and basic SEO
Desired Qualifications
* Proven experience developing and maintaining websites (HTML/CSS/JavaScript and/or platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, etc.)
* Ability to recommend and implement an appropriate site architecture rather than simply executing a predefined build
* Experience migrating websites between platforms
* Strong attention to layout, readability, and user experience
* Comfort making light editorial or structural suggestions to improve how content is presented
* Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote setting
* Experience working with research, non-profit, cultural, or academic organisations is an asset
* Fluency in English is required; fluency in Arabic is an asset
Engagement
This is a freelance or part-time role, with an initial focus on rebuilding the website, followed by ongoing maintenance and periodic updates. Hours and contract structure are flexible and can be discussed based on availability and scope.
