Accountant Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team in Portugal. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Process and record accounting documents.
* Reconcile and analyze current accounts.
* Participate in and manage daily accounting activities and monthly closings.
* Support in preparing monthly reports and annual accounts.
* Help to fulfill tax and legal obligations.
* Support in analyzing and preparing accurate and timely financial information for audit process and tax compliance requirements.
* Adapt and improve existing accounting processes to enhance efficiency and reduce processing time.
* Encourage continuous improvement and automation solutions for accounting tasks.

Required Qualifications:
* Previous experience of 2–5 years in similar roles.
* Degree in accounting, management, or finance.
* Knowledge of tax, national standards, and IFRS.
* Methodical, structured, analytical skills.
* Communication, dynamism, and teamwork skills.
* Desirable fluent English and Spanish.

Role Summary:
The Accountant performs professional accounting work including compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data. Requires an understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles and bookkeeping experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Management and Control:
o Track progress against budgets within established finance systems and report variances to more senior colleagues.
* Data Collection and Analysis:
o Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.
* Data Management:
o Help others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice.
* Insights and Reporting:
o Extract and combine data to generate standard reports.
* Document Preparation:
o Prepare moderately complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices such as standard office software.
* Operational Compliance:
o Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards.
* Project Management:
o Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
* Information and Business Advice:
o Resolve complex queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on policies and/or procedures.
* Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols:
o Assist with the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
* Personal Capability Building:
o Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.
