Job Summary
As a Product Controller, you will serve as a strategic partner between Product, Finance, and Operations teams, ensuring financial oversight and business viability of the company's product portfolio. Your primary focus will be to support the end-to-end product lifecycle by providing cost and margin analysis, performance monitoring, and pricing insights that contribute to sustainable growth and profitability.
You will work cross-functionally with Product Development, Sales and Finance teams to ensure data-driven decision-making and alignment with broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Product Financial Control & Performance Analysis
- Monitor product-level financial performance, including key KPIs such as gross margin, unit cost, price variance, and profitability.
- Perform variance analysis and recommend corrective actions for deviations from targets.
- Track and maintain product cost structures, ensuring accuracy and consistency across systems.
New Product Development Support
- Partner with Product Development to assess the financial feasibility of new product initiatives.
- Provide cost and margin simulations for product launches, design changes, and supplier transitions.
- Evaluate the financial impact of decisions made during the development and sourcing stages.
Pricing & Commercial Strategy
- Support the definition and execution of pricing strategies by analyzing cost inputs, market positioning, and profitability targets.
- Ensure alignment between product pricing and financial objectives.
- Help implement and manage pricing frameworks across different product categories.
Operational Support
- Initiate and manage purchase order (PO) creation and tracking in coordination with Finance and Product teams.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and approval workflows related to product costs and supplier payments.
- Maintain up-to-date records in internal systems for cost centers, vendors, and product line allocations.
- Provide support for invoice reconciliation and resolve PO-related discrepancies with vendors or internal teams.
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Prepare recurring reports on product performance to support strategic decision-making by senior leadership.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles, especially related to product cost and margin evolution.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Act as a financial partner to Sales, Supply Chain, and Product teams, ensuring a holistic view of product health.
- Participate in product review committees, pricing discussions, and cost optimization projects.
Preferred Qualifications (Must-have/Nice-to-have)
Must-Have Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in financial controlling, product management support, or cost analysis.
- Strong analytical and Excel skills; ability to synthesize large data sets into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams and levels.
- Experience managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Background in consumer goods, retail, or manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and BI tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience with cost simulation models and product margin tracking.
- Understanding of supply chain and product development workflows.
- Proactive mindset with a drive for continuous improvement and process optimization.
