Now, we're strengthening our automation expertise in Portugal, and we're looking for an experienced Automation Engineer who's ready to work locally while collaborating internationally. You'll have your base in Portugal (Castelo De Paiva), but you'll frequently travel to our headquarters in Belgium and other European sites to support projects, knowledge sharing, and implementation.
Your Role
As an Automation Engineer, you will:
* Lead automation projects from concept to commissioning, including FAT/SAT.
* Write and implement PLC software (mainly Siemens TIA Portal) and perform MIO testing.
* Review electrical schematics and ensure compliance with Decospan standards.
* Develop interfaces between systems and enable intelligent data processing.
* Create instrument lists, safety matrices, and electrical drawings for modifications.
* Guide technicians during on-site execution and support complex troubleshooting.
* Share your expertise with colleagues through training and knowledge building.
* Stay on top of the latest technologies by visiting trade fairs and engaging with suppliers.
What We're Looking For
* At least 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, with solid expertise in automation.
* Strong technical knowledge of PLC programming, electrical systems, and ideally safety systems.
* Familiarity with E-plan is a strong plus.
* A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset – you take initiative and turn ideas into working solutions.
* Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of other European languages is a plus.
* Willingness to travel regularly within Europe (Belgium HQ + other sites).
