The Enterprise Data Accessibility (EDA) program of the Data & Analytics department under Services Org is looking for a Manager in Software Engineering to lead, mentor, and coach software engineering teams to build, enhance, and deliver internal or market-facing products and platforms. Someone who combines deep technical experience with great people management skills and can help elevate our teams and our approach to engineering.
We are looking for a candidate that has proven experience in coding, architecture leadership, and leading engineers in a fast-paced environment. This position is a mix of hands-on development, process engineering, and management responsibilities with a strong emphasis on technical leadership. The candidate will work with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders in developing product platforms. The ideal candidate should be passionate about design thinking, customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
Job description:
Responsible for leading a team of IT Professionals for the development and delivery of quality software solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner.
All about you:
1. Establish & monitor objectives for the department and staff members to align with department strategies and objectives.
2. Successfully lead definition, development, and delivery of major cross-department initiatives with broad scope and long-term business implications. Partner with business to identify innovative solutions and drive strategic decisions. Develop business cases in alignment with the MasterCard objectives. Actively look for opportunities for innovation and creative problem solving. Make presentations to the Senior Management, Business Owners, and other Stakeholders and help them in the decision-making process.
3. Provide recommendations to Senior Management on selection of technologies and strategic technical direction for the department.
4. Lead implementation of processes and supporting tools per the evolving needs of the organization. Identify process gaps, provide estimates for business solutions, define the initial scope/requirements of the project, and manage the scope during the lifecycle of the project. Plan overall project scope as well as define scope for each phase and iteration to meet business needs/time-to-market needs.
5. Ensure the project or effort is adequately staffed, trained, and managed. Ensure personnel have appropriate skills and behaviors, and effectively communicate performance results; as necessary, managing each effort within approved manpower and budget guidelines.
6. Hands-on with coding and/or mentoring team members as needed.
7. Good experience with software engineering and architecture design.
Knowledge / Experience:
1. Team and Resource Management experience.
2. 5-8 years related experience including management experience with multiple diverse teams and experience conducting formal performance reviews.
3. Managing multiple projects and programs.
4. Advanced knowledge of Project Management, Strategic Planning, some finance experience, and related curriculum.
5. Advanced experience with Software Engineering Design patterns and coding. Experience with five to eight years is highly desirable.
6. Advanced experience with Cloud environment and front-end and back-end distributed systems.
