Job Overview
As a Community Engagement Manager, you will play a key role in facilitating and maintaining relationships with local communities where renewable projects are developed, constructed, and operated. You will work closely with colleagues and contractors to design and lead meaningful community engagement and consultation programs for multiple renewable projects across Portugal.
The ideal candidate will have +10 years of working experience and comprehensive knowledge of community and stakeholder engagement requirements in Portugal. They will possess great project and time management abilities, solid understanding of community engagement principles and practices, and experience in organising community events and delivering successful community activities.
You will be responsible for leading local community engagement on renewable projects in Portugal, providing internal leadership in community engagement, and staying up-to-date with evolving industry trends and best practices. You will also participate in cross-functional teams, including Environmental Planning, Marketing and Communications, Business Development, Construction, Asset Operations, and other involved teams.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead local community engagement on renewable projects in Portugal, helping the company develop robust projects in the planning process and construction phase with strong community involvement.
2. Be across evolving knowledge and industry trends in relation to stakeholder engagement, communication techniques, shared value measures design and implementations, and social impact assessment.
3. Design and implement stakeholder engagement plans (SEPs) for each pipeline project, including identification and analysis of local stakeholders, design of engagement strategies, and deployment of engagement actions.
4. Propose shared value measures that should accompany renewable projects and support the drafting of commitment agreements between parties.
5. Lead community engagement and consultation events and activities, oversee the development and production of effective communications platforms, materials, and collateral, and collect feedback from the community.
6. Monitor the timely implementation of agreed shared value measures, detect deviations, and propose improvement actions. Measure and/or monitor the social impact of actions carried out with communities.
7. Personally manage relationships with near-neighbours to our project sites, community groups, and other stakeholders in the community, including local authority members, and community, town, and councils.
8. Work cross-functionally and close with colleagues and other contractors from involved teams.

Requirements
* +10 years working experience.
* Comprehensive knowledge of community and stakeholder engagement requirements and consenting and public consultation processes in Portugal.
* Great project and time management abilities, managing different and complex project issues, setting priorities, organising the logistics of engagement activities and outputs, and meeting commitments made to stakeholders.
* Solid understanding of both the underlying principles and practices of community engagement, including being able to communicate the importance of community engagement in project delivery.
* Experience in organising community events such as public participation and information workshops.
* Demonstrated record of delivering successful community activities and outputs at a range of scales, including adapting to challenges, and managing sensitive projects.
* Experience in renewable energy and/or large infrastructure projects.
* Valid national driving license.
* Excellent technical, project management, and communication skills with experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams.
* Driven with a hands-on proactive approach to business, and the ability to be flexible and adapt rapidly.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to build relationships and trust with a wide variety of stakeholders, and an ability to work within a team.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide range of other influential stakeholders, including neighbours, local authority officers, and industry bodies.
