It is hereby made public that for 30 working days counted from the first working day following the publication of this Edital in Diário da República, an international position is open for the recruitment ofanAssistantProfessor, in the disciplinary area ofRural Engineering (Biosystems Engineering)of the School of Sciences and Technology of the University of Évora. This position will be announced in the Bolsa de Emprego Público, in the web pages of the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P., and of UE, in Portuguese and English, as established in articles 62.º-A of the Estatuto da Carreira Docente Universitária (ECDU), republished asan attachment to the Decreto-Lei n.º 205/2009, of August 31, altered by the Lei nº 8/2010, of May 13.
The present call follows the rulings of articles 37.º to 51º, 61º and 62º-A of the ECDU and further applicable laws and regulations, particularly the Regulamento dos Concursos para Recrutamento de Professores das Carreiras Docentes na Universidade de Évora, henceforth called Regulamento ,approved by the Despacho n.º 9696/2024 (2.ª série), of August 21st.
The joint order nº 373/2000, of March 31st, made compulsory the inclusion of the following reference in all civil service recruitment procedure notices:
“As established in item h) of article 9.º of the Portuguese Constitution, Public Administration, when acting as an employer, actively promotes a policy of equal opportunity between men and women in access to employment and professional progression, scrupulouslyendeavouring to avoid any form of discrimination”.
Following articles 37º to 51º of the ECDU and other applicable legislation and with article 8º of the Regulamento, the following provisions will apply:
I - Authorization order - the present open position wasauthorised by order of the Rector of the University of Évora,on06/04/2025.
II - Place of work:School of Sciences and Technology of the University of Évora
III - Admission requirements:
III.1. Chapter IV of the Regulamento is appliedregarding verification andcompliancewith the requirements of admission and exclusion of the candidates.
III.2.Under 41.º-A do ECDU, only those who hold a doctoral degree in the field of Rural Engineering or Agricultural Engineering or Biosystems Engineering or Agricultural Sciences, on the application deadline, as well as fluency in the Portuguese language, both spoken and written, may be admitted to this competition.
III.3. If thePhD degree has been awarded by a foreignhigher education institution, the candidates are admitted, according to paragraph e) of nº2 of article 4th of Decreto-Lei nº 60/2018, of August 3 and the registration/recognition of the degree in Portugal must be carried out after the end of the competition, under the terms set out in Decreto-Lei nº 66/2018, of August 16th, beinga requirement for the act of signature of the contract.
III.4. Foreign candidates, except those of an officialPortuguese expression, are required to provide an officially recognised statement, demonstrating that theyhave mastered the Portuguese language, in both written and spoken forms.
IV — Admission requirements in absolute merit:
IV.1. Article 12º of the Regulamento is appliedconcerning admissiononthe absolute merit of candidates.
IV.2. The jury will deliberate on the approval or rejection in absolute merit, through justified nominal voting, where abstentions are not allowed.Approval in absolute meritis understood as receivinga positive vote of more than half of the jury members.
IV.3. Theadmission in absolute merit isbased on the overall curriculum,which the jury deems denotes scientific merit, research ability, and the value of the pedagogical activity, as already developed, in the area or disciplinary areas to which the position respects, and is appropriate to the respective category.
V - Evaluation parameters and ranking in relative merit, weighting, and finalassessment:
V.1. The method of selection is curricular evaluation. This curricular evaluation takes into account the general functions committed to the teachers byArticle 4th and, according to nº 6 ofArticle 50th of the ECDU, is based on the following items:
a) Research;
b) Teaching;
c) Knowledge transfer;
d) University management;
e) Scientificand pedagogical project.
V.2. In the application of the criteria defined in number V.1., the following parameters and weights will be used:
a) Research, witha weight of35%, which comprises:
a1) Scientific, cultural, artistic, or technological production and its relevance in the disciplinary areain which the position is open;
a2) Participation in the coordination of research projects and their relevance to the disciplinary area in which the competition is open;
a3) Other scientific, cultural, artistic, or technological activities;
b) Teaching, witha weight of30%, which comprises:
b1) Teaching experience (curricular units taught,teaching hours, and assessment by students);
b2) Student supervision;
b3) Publication of textbooks with ISBN and othereducational texts;
b4) Pedagogical innovation;
c) Knowledge transfer, with a weighting factor of 10% and comprising the following parameters:
c1) Preparation of legislation, patents, standards and technical publications, provision of services, consultancy and dissemination of science and technology;
c2) Training actions;
c3) Non-academic experience relevant to the subject area of the competition.
d) University management, with a weighting factor of 5%;
e) Scientific-pedagogical project, with a weighting factor of 20%, on a scientific development project, within the framework of the Research Units of the University of Évora and the disciplinary area of this call, presented in the following terms:
e1) maximum of 5 thousand (5000) words;
e2) Submit a concise research proposal and a strategy for training in the subject area of the competition, highlighting the innovative nature of the project, teaching methods and its relationship with the University's strategy. This project must include a contextualisation of the proposed curricular unit, identification of the competences to be achieved and a proposal for the pedagogical approach and assessment deemed necessary for the acquisition of the proposed objectives.
e3) As in scientific work, the document must be framed by the State of the Art, Materials, and Methods.
e4) Should refer to the strategy for attracting human and financing resources that support the development and consolidation of the proposed research strategy. The candidate should also add the previous results of his investigation that can support the submitted proposal.
e5) Contain a summary of the most recent bibliographic references as well as a summary of the expected results.
V.3. The jury willproceed with the evaluation of the candidates approved in absolute merit, following the procedure expressed inArticle 22nd of the Regulamento .
V.4. The ranking of the candidates will be the result of theweighted average of quantitative scores obtained in each of the evaluation parameters, within a range of 0 to 100 points.
VI - Preferred parameters:
a) Scientific performance in the field of Rural Engineering (Biosystems Engineering), particularly in the field of Agricultural Mechanisation (with a weighting of 4) and/or Rural Constructions (with a weighting of 4) and/or New Technologies in Agriculture (with a weighting of 2) and/or Agricultural Hydraulics (with a weighting of 2), constitutes a preferential parameter (PP1), with up to 50% of the total points obtained in the Research component being valued.
b) Teaching experience at a university or polytechnic higher education institution, in Agronomy, Agronomic Engineering and related study cycles and the disciplinary areas of Agricultural Mechanisation (with a weighting of 5), Rural Constructions (with a weighting of 4), New Technologies in Agriculture (GIS, DR, GNSS, Precision Agriculture) (with a weighting of 2), Agricultural Hydraulics (with a weighting of 2), is a preferential parameter (PP2), with up to 50% of the total points obtained in the Teaching component being valued.
VII – Public hearings:
VII.1. The jury will deliberate at the first meeting on the need to hold public hearings of all candidates approved in absolute meritwhich are intended,exclusively, to clarify what appears in the curriculum vitae submitted by the candidates, under the terms of b), nº 4 of article 50º of ECDU, with all candidates being informed, at least five working days in advance, of the date and place where such hearings will take place.
VII.2. Public hearingsmentioned in the previous paragraph may be held by videoconference, but the jury mustguarantee that these are carried out on equal terms for all candidates.
VII.3. According to paragraph a), nº 4 of article 50º of ECDU, the jury may also request candidates to provide additional documentation related to the submitted curriculum.
VIII - Application submission:
VIII.1. Applications must be sent within 30 working days from the day immediately following the publication of this Edital in Diário da República .

IX - Application form:
IX.1. The application must be completed with the filing of a Requerimento, which is available on the website of the Administrative Services of the University of Évora at:
Candidates must expressly state that they consent to communications and notifications within the scope of the competition taking place by email, and provide their address.
IX.2.The application must be accompanied by the following documentation, preferably in digital format (PDF):
a)Documents proving that the candidate fulfils the conditions set out in the notice of competition, namely a supporting certificate that you hold the required degrees and/or qualifications and a certificate of the length of service (if you have a civil service contract);
b)The candidate's curriculum vitae, dated and signed, with an indication of the works carried out and published, as well as the teaching activities carried out. When drawing up the curriculum vitae, the candidate must comply with the organisation referred to in point V.2. of this notice;
c) Works that the candidate considers to be the most representative, up to a maximum of five works, and provide a brief justification for their contribution;
