Call for Applications for One (1) R&D Fellowship
Applications are open for one (1) Research and Development (R&D)Fellowship within the project "Pain management in people with dementia who cannot verbalise it: effectiveness-implementation study in Long-Term Care Facilities (e-cuidaDOR 2)", reference no. 15404, submitted under Call no. MPr-2023-12 – SACCCT – R&D Projects, funded by national funds through the Lisbon Regional Operational Programme (Lisboa 2030) under the FEDER component and by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the State Budget component, under the following conditions:

Applicants must hold a Master's degree in a health-related field, with particular value given to academic backgrounds relevant to pain management.
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious candidate with the following qualifications, knowledge and skills:
* Strong motivation to work in the area of pain management in people with dementia;
* Experience working in clinical settings and multidisciplinary teams;
* Experience in the collection and analysis of quantitative data;
* Proficiency in written and spoken Portuguese and English;
* Willingness and ability to travel between various Long-Term Care Facilities across the Lisbon region.
Work Plan
This doctoral research project, leading to a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, is part of the e-cuidaDOR 2 project and has the overall aim of developing and evaluating an innovative, evidence- and theory-based pain management intervention for people living with dementia who cannot communicate verbally in Long-Term Care Facilities.
The work plan includes participation in the following project activities:
* Supporting project management;
* Assisting with data management;
* Actively contributing to the development of the pain management intervention, including recruitment and facilitation of stakeholder workshops for co-design and co-production;
* Participating in the recruitment of participants for intervention evaluation;
* Supporting the hybrid effectiveness-implementation study and related activities;
* Proactively engaging in project dissemination and communication activities;
* Presenting research findings at national and international scientific events;
* Submitting and publishing article(s) in international scientific journals;
* Writing reports or other necessary documents.

The work will be carried out at theEgas Moniz School of Health & Science, located at Campus Universitário, Quinta da Granja, Monte de Caparica, 2829-511 Caparica, and at theNational School of Public Health, NOVA University Lisbon, located at Avenida Padre Cruz, 1600-560 Lisbon, under the scientific supervision of Dr Isa Brito Félix and co-supervision of Dr Mara Pereira Guerreiro and Dr Marta Moreira Marques.
Duration of the Studentship
The fellowship will last for 36 months, with an expected start in September 2025. The contract may be renewed for up to 12 additional months.
The selection method will be based on curriculum evaluation (90%) and motivation letter (10%), in the event that an interview is not deemed necessary. Should an interview be required, the weighting will be as follows: curriculum evaluation (60%), motivation letter (10%), and interview (30%).

Publication/Notification of Results
Evaluation results will be published within 90 working days of the application deadline. Applicants will be notified of the Final Evaluation Result by email to the address provided.
Complaints and Appeal Deadlines and Procedures
Following the publication of the provisional evaluation results, candidates have 10 working days to make representations during the pre-hearing phase, in accordance with Articles 121º and following of the Administrative Procedure Code. A final decision will be made after the analysis of any representations submitted. Candidates may lodge a complaint within 15 working days, or an appeal within 30 working days, counted from the date of notification. Complaints or appeals must be addressed to the Executive Board.
