About the Hiscox Data Team
The Hiscox Data Team is transforming data maturity across the organisation to accelerate business growth and efficiency using Data, Analytics, and AI. The virtual team consists of a central function driving alignment, Business Unit teamsidentifyingcommercial value and providing execution capacity and technology providing for Data Engineering and ML Operations services.

The Role
Working withinthe Group Data Science teamasaPrincipalData Scientist, you willbe responsible forleading the build ofData Science solution including working with conventional data science and generative AI.You will take a technical leadership role tofacilitatethe successful delivery of new data analytics, ML and AI based solutions and provide insights and capabilities to support decision making acrossthe organisation, using a combination of public andprivate datasources,modelsand cloud services.
As part of ourdata scienceteamyou will be involved in the development of solutions to a broad range of front andback officetasks including, automation of routinetasks, working on novel approaches to underwriting and pricing risk and enabling theclaimsfunction.
Requirements
1. Experience witha range of data science and generative AI toolsand good understanding of thestrengths and limitations of each approach.
2. Understanding of statistics, to enable systematic assessment of AI/ML models.
3. Familiarity with a wide range of generative AItechniques and models.
4. Strong codingability in python,with understanding of code qualityand version control.
5. Experience working in an Agile manner.
6. APrototype, fail rapidly and iteratemindsettoenablesuccessful delivery
7. Confidence communicating within the team to champion suitable methods andwillingness to engage with non-technical stakeholders to understand the nature of the solutionrequired.
8. Willingness to help mentor junior members of the team to ensure they developappropriately.
