Accountant / Certified Accountant (Zona Franca da Madeira)Location: Madeira IslandType: Full-timeAbout the roleWe are looking for an experienced Accountant with strong knowledge of the Zona Franca da Madeira (International Business Centre – MIBC) to support our growing international operations in the entertainment and live events sector.This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who understands Portuguese accounting standards, international activity structures, and the specific compliance, reporting, and substance requirements applicable to companies operating under the Madeira tax regime.You will play a key role in ensuring full legal, fiscal, and reporting compliance while supporting management with accurate financial information.Key responsibilitiesAccounting & financial managementMaintain accurate bookkeeping in accordance with Portuguese accounting standards (SNC)Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsManage general ledger, reconciliations, and closing processesSupport budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and financial planningZona Franca da Madeira (MIBC) complianceEnsure ongoing compliance with Zona Franca da Madeira requirements, including:Eligible activity verificationSubstance requirements (employment, operational presence, expenditure)Compliance with approved business activity scopeMonitor and support compliance with corporate income tax benefits under the Madeira regimePrepare and support documentation required for audits or inspections related to MIBC statusTax & statutory obligationsPrepare and submit VAT (IVA) returns, corporate tax (IRC), and other statutory filingsCoordinate with tax authorities and external advisors when requiredSupport payroll accounting and employer obligations (if applicable)Ensure compliance with Portuguese reporting deadlines and legal obligationsAdvisory & internal supportAdvise management on accounting, tax, and compliance matters related to international operationsSupport external auditors, legal advisors, and banksPrepare clear financial summaries and reports for internal stakeholdersRequirementsDegree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldRegistered or eligible Certified Accountant (Contabilista Certificado) in Portugal (strongly preferred)Proven experience with Zona Franca da Madeira / MIBC companiesSolid knowledge of Portuguese tax and accounting regulationsExperience working with international activity and cross-border transactionsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailProfessional working proficiency in English (written and spoken)High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial informationNice to haveExperience with entertainment, events, or international services companiesFamiliarity with transfer pricing basics and international invoicingExperience liaising with legal teams and corporate service providersKnowledge of EU VAT rules for services and live eventsWhat we offerOpportunity to work with international projects and clientsA role with real responsibility and long-term collaboration potentialFlexible working structure (full-time or part-time)Competitive compensation aligned with experience and seniorityCollaborative, professional, and growth-oriented environment
