Role
Associate Scrum Master
At AMGEN, Technology is a catalyst for discovery and impact. This role supports the Global Commercial Operations - Digital, Technology and Innovation capability team, focusing on the ELMAC Region (Europe, Latin America, Canada and Africa). The Scrum Master facilitates Agile practices and ensures effective sprint planning, execution, and delivery of features, improvements, validations, and data integration that drive value for business users.
What you will do
Join the Global Commercial Operations - Digital, Technology and Innovation capability team; support technology roadmap development across multiple value streams.
Facilitate Agile events including stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, demos, and backlog refinement to promote team collaboration.
Coach the team in Agile frameworks and practices; work with Product Owners to refine and prioritize the backlog to deliver high-value outcomes aligned with business objectives.
Resolve conflicts and remove impediments; escalate risks and cross-team dependencies when needed.
Promote continuous improvement, lead retrospectives, encourage innovation, and foster Agile engineering practices and DevOps culture.
Monitor and report progress to ensure transparency and alignment with sprint goals and team objectives.
Support delivery acceleration by helping teams reach higher levels of Scrum maturity; participate in cross-team ceremonies and Program Increment (PI) planning to align with Agile Release Train (ART) objectives.
What we expect of you
Basic Qualifications and Experience
:
Master's degree in computer science or engineering with 1–3 years of relevant experience, or
Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or
Diploma with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant work experience
Functional Skills
:
Certified Scrum Master or SAFe Scrum Master or similar (mandatory)
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and SAFe
Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Jira Align)
Experience guiding teams through Agile events and ensuring adherence to practices
Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
Excellent problem-solving skills with a passion for data-driven challenges
Collaborative spirit and strong communication for cross-functional teams
Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and DevOps/Test Automation in software delivery
Certified SAFe Practitioner (preferred)
