research fellowship
within the scope of Project ESCIB - Developing environmental sustainability & circularity assessment methodologies for industrial bio-based systems, grant number, funded by the European Union, under the following conditions:

Skills/ Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or a related field. Enrolled in a PhD course at a Portuguese higher education institution, or in a non-academic degree course. This fellowship includes the payment of tuition fees.
Skills: Knowledge in life-cycle assessment (LCA) and circularity assessment of biobased systems, or related areas, preferably as an author of scientific publications.
The non-academic degree course must be related to the type of activity of the scholarship.
"Courses not conferring an academic degree" are the courses referred to in paragraph e) of paragraph 3 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 74/2006, of 24 March, in their wording current, provided that they are developed in association or cooperation between the higher education institution and one or more R&D units, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph e) of article 3 of the Regulation for Research Grants of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, IP. In the case of masters who are enrolled in non-academic degree courses, the scholarship can only be awarded to those who do not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, an accumulated period of two years in this type of contract, followed or interpolated.
Work plan/ Objectives
This fellowship aims to develop research work within the scope of the project to:
* Collaborate in the development of prospective Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and circularity assessment methodologies for biobased systems.
* Participate in meetings with companies and partners involved in the HE ESCIB project ) as well as in data collection.
* Collaborate in the preparation of scientific publications and deliverables of the project.
Regime:
The attribution of the fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labor nature, and the fellowship is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime. The fellowship holder is awarded the Fellowship Statute of ADAI, in its current wording, according to the Research Fellowship Holder Statute, and according to the Regulation for Research Fellowships of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., both in their current wording.
Location:
Work will be developed within the activities of the Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics of the Associated Laboratory in Energy, Transport and Aeronautics (ADAI-LAETA). The workplaces are the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Coimbra, or other places that are necessary for the execution of the work plan.
Duration:
The fellowship will last for

months on an exclusive basis, with the possibility of renewal, but never beyond the project's end date, in accordance with the FCT Research Fellowship Regulations and the ADAI Scientific Research Fellowship Regulations.
Renewal:
The scholarship's eventual renewal will be determined in art. 6 of the Regulation of Research Scholarships of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P.

Financial conditions:
The amount of the fellowship is
1309,64€,
corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table ), plus personal accident insurance, and the possible reimbursement of the social security (Seguro Social Voluntário– should the recipient decide for the first level contributions). The payment will be made by bank transfer.
Selection Methods:
All applications submitted within the deadline and containing all required documents will be evaluated.
Selection Criteria:
In the curricular evaluation, the following criteria will be evaluated: i) Candidate merit, namely in terms of academic curriculum and knowledge in Life Cycle Assessment (70%), and ii) Candidate's motivation expressed in the Motivation Letter (30 %). In the interview, the following criteria will be evaluated: i) Motivation of the candidate to perform the functions, proactivity, and ability to work autonomously (30%), ii) Knowledge of the tasks inherent to the functions (40%), and iii) Availability to start the grant (30%). Only candidates with a classification of 75% or higher in the curricular evaluation will be called for an interview.
The jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship if the candidate does not have the background and skills to carry out the work plan (final score below 75%).

At all times during the evaluation process, confidentiality is fully protected and ensured to guarantee the independence of all opinions produced.

The following documents are mandatory, under penalty of exclusion from the Call, and must be sent by email to

* Certificate of qualification with a detailed academic history (courses and corresponding grading) and other relevant certificates

* Copy of relevant publications.
* proof of degree recognition for degrees issued by foreign higher education institutions.
* The fellowship contract will only be signed if the candidate is accepted to the doctoral program or non-degree course to which he/she has applied.
Note: Important note for candidates holding a degree issued by foreign higher education institutions: In the case of academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions, and to guarantee the principle of equal treatment among applicants with national and foreign academic degrees, the applicants must submit proof of recognition of such degrees and the conversion of the respective final average grade to the Portuguese grading scale under the terms of the applicable legislation. Applicants with recognized foreign academic degrees who do not submit proof of conversion of the final average grade to the Portuguese grading scale will be evaluated with a minimum grade of 0 (zero) points in the criterion Curriculum Evaluation. In any case, scholarship contracts with applicants whose diplomas have been issued by foreign institutions will only be concluded upon presentation of proof of recognition of academic degrees and conversion of the final average grade, as indicated above.

Form of publication/ notification of results
The evaluation results will be publicized through a list sorted by final grade obtained, via email.
Additional information
The evaluation results will be announced within 90 working days after the application submission period ends, via email notification to the applicants. After the announcement of the results, candidates are automatically notified to comment on the results during a preliminary hearing period, which lasts 10 days after the date of the announcement, if they wish to do so. After this, the selected candidates must submit their written acceptance. Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waives the fellowship. In the event of resignation or withdrawal by the selected candidate, the next candidate with the highest evaluation score will be notified immediately.
Once the selection process is completed, the fellowship contract will be drawn up in accordance with the draft contract provided by the FCT.
Selection reserve list
The selection reserve list must be available throughout the project.
