The opening of this position was authorized by COFAC – Cooperativa de Formação e Animação Cultural, C.R.L., the founding entity of Universidade Lusófona, within the scope of its powers to hire teachers and researchers, under the terms of clause i) of No. 1 of article 30 of Law No. 62/2007, of September 10, and clause i) of No. 5 of article 7 of the Statutes of Universidade Lusófona.
Activity subject to hiring
The hired teacher will perform the following activities, in compliance with applicable legislation and regulations:
i)- Develop advanced and international research of excellent level within the scope of DEISI/ECATI and Copelabs - Research Center in Human-Centered Computing and Cognition in one or more of the following areas: (a) Information and Data Science, (b) Internet of Things (IoT), (c) Artificial Intelligence, (d) Cybersecurity and Data Privacy, (e) Computer Networks and Telecommunications, (f) Computer Systems, (g) Programming and Software Engineering, (h) Information Systems, (i) Human-Centered Computing
ii)- Collaborate in scientific research training activities included in the scientific strategy of DEISI/ECATI and Copelabs.
iii)- Participate in academic activities at the Department of Computer Engineering and Information Systems (DEISI) of the School of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technologies (ECATI);
iv)- Teach on campuses and, if necessary, online, in master's and/or doctoral courses in areas of their specialization;
v)- Provide academic and career counseling to postgraduate students;
vi)- Contribute to promoting the internationalization of DEISI/ECATI and Copelabs;
vii)- Lead and cooperate in application processes for national and international competitive funding;

Skills/Qualifications
1 - Professors who hold a doctorate degree in the disciplinary areas of Computer Engineering or Computer Science for more than one year may be admitted.
2 - The main area of research should be one of the following: (a) Information and Data Science, (b) Internet of Things (IoT), (c) Artificial Intelligence, (d) Cybersecurity and Data Privacy, (e) Computer Networks and Telecommunications, (f) Computer Systems, (g) Software Programming and Engineering, (h) Information Systems, (i) Human-Centric Computing
Specific Requirements
The candidate must:
i)- Hold a PhD in Computer Engineering or Computer Science;
ii)- Demonstrate the ability to work appropriately in the activities to be carried out as part of a multidisciplinary team;
iii)- Have oral and written command of Portuguese or English (B2). If the candidate, at the time of recruitment, does not have command of Portuguese, he/she must immediately begin the respective learning process, with a view to ensuring his/her ability to teach in Portuguese after 2 years, with command of Portuguese at level B1 of the CEFR at the end of that period being an essential requirement for his/her subsequent approval in the probationary period.
iv)- Have demonstrated good pedagogical skills in the organization and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses;
v) - Have participated, preferably, in national and/or international R&D, outreach and community outreach activities related to the aforementioned areas;
vi)- Have been, preferably, the author of relevant works published in international peer-reviewed journals (CORE A or A* for conferences, journals and newspapers indexed in SciMago);
vii)- Have, preferably, previous experience in coordinating research projects on the topics of the proposal.

The contractual conditions are as follows:
i) Integration into the career framework of Universidade Lusófona on a full-time, non-exclusive basis;
iii) Gross monthly base salary based on qualifications and professional experience to be determined, between €2,100 and €3,800;
iv) Expected date of hiring: 01-09-2025;
v) Reduction of tuition fees for the employee and family members, in accordance with the applicable internal regulations;
vi) Health benefits for the employee and family members, in accordance with the applicable internal regulations;
vii) Attendance at the gym, in accordance with the applicable internal regulations.

1 - The Selection Panel is composed of the following members:
2 - The Selection Panel is responsible for evaluating the applications.
1 - The Selection Panel meets and, after assessing the candidates, deliberates, within a maximum period of 15 working days, counting from the working day following the end of the submission of applications, on their final classification in a duly ordered list.
2 - Minutes are drawn up for each Selection Panel meeting, which will include the issues discussed and the votes of each member, as well as the grounds for the decisions taken.
3 - The panel may decide not to propose the hiring of any candidate if it considers that none of them meets the necessary conditions.
4 - The Selection Panel submits the final deliberation to the Rector, by the fifth working day immediately following the end of the deadline, as provided for in IX-1, for the purposes of approval and notifies the candidates to, if they wish, express their views in writing, within a period of ten working days, to the Rector, who will decide within the same period.
- Approval
The Rector will approve the final classification of applications within ten working days, counting from the working day following the day on which the deadline for deciding on the decisions ends.
- Submission of applications
Applications must be submitted via the AVADOC platform within 30 working days, commencing on the fifth working day following the publication of this Notice on the university’s website.
- Application Instructions
The application must be accompanied by the following documents:
i) Cover letter stating the reasons justifying the application;
ii) Curriculum vitae stating professional experience, accompanied by a list of the 5 most relevant scientific publications;
iii) Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate certificates;
iv) Personal data and contact details - with their respective email addresses - of at least two academics of reference who can attest to the submitted curriculum;
v) Descriptive statement of career development, highlighting previous and future scientific and technological production;
vi) Other documents considered relevant by the candidate and which, in his/her view, are pertinent to attest and evaluate his/her scientific and professional career.
Selection process
1 - Applications will be assessed taking into account the quality, timeliness and relevance of the academic and pedagogical curriculum, the scientific curriculum, scientific production and research experience appropriate to the strategic objectives of DEISI/ECATI and Copelabs and creation of new knowledge related to the scientific communities of DEISI/ECATI and Copelabs, the professional curriculum of the candidates and the level of suitability to the proposed work plan.
2 - In the selection process, the panel will assess the set of aspects identified below on a scale of 0 to 100:
i) The candidate's scientific career, with particular emphasis on scientific work carried out or published in the last 5 years in areas related to the work plan that is the subject of the position (up to 35% of the assessment);
ii) The candidate's professional experience, with special emphasis on activities carried out in the last 5 years in areas related to the work plan that is the subject of the position (up to 55% of the assessment);
iii) Cover letter in English (10% of the assessment), to assess the candidate's motivation and interest in the activities to be developed (5% of the assessment) and proficiency in English (5% of the assessment);
3 - If the selection panel chooses to conduct an interview with the candidates, which is exclusively intended to clarify aspects related to the results of their research (corresponding to a maximum of 10% of the total evaluation), up to 5 candidates from among those who obtained the highest score will be considered; in any case, only evaluations that obtain a score higher than 60% will be considered.
