Most compliance systems weren't designed for how modern companies operate. They've been layered together over time - static data, fragmented sources, slow processes.
We're working with a company rebuilding this from first principles. Their approach starts at the data layer - live, structured, continuously updating. Something systems can actually reason about, not just store.
On top of that sit agent-driven workflows handling onboarding, verification, and monitoring in real time. It's AI-native by design. Built for models and agents to operate on directly, not retrofitted later.
The market is massive. Every fintech and financial platform hits this problem, and billions are still spent solving it through people and process.
The product is already live. Customers are using it. The team is now focused on scaling what they've built.
They're hiring a Head of Engineering to build out their Porto hub.
Your work will be focused on:
* Defining the architecture for a real-time, data-intensive platform operating at enterprise scale
* Building ingestion systems that handle fragmented, cross-border data sources
* Ensuring reliability and correctness in systems where failure has real consequences
* Creating the foundations for teams and systems to scale in parallel
You'll be:
* leading and growing a team from 3 engineers to 10 by the end of 2026
* partnering closely with founders on technical direction and product decisions
* setting engineering standards, processes, and culture from an early stage
* staying close to the code where it matters, especially in foundational areas
* balancing speed of execution with long-term system integrity
This role could suit a Staff+ engineer stepping into leadership, or a Head/Director who wants to stay close to building.
