Sector: CultureDepartment: Culture Planning & DevelopmentSection: CollectionsLocation: Abu Dhabi, United Arab EmiratesOur client is seeking an experienced Collection Registration Unit Head to lead all aspects of collection registration, documentation, and inventory control across the Culture Sector.
This role ensures that collection management systems, records, and procedures are aligned with international museum standards and support the preservation and accessibility of cultural assets.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Operational LeadershipLead the development and execution of annual plans for the Collection Registration Unit, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives.Monitor unit performance and provide regular reports to ensure continuous improvement and goal achievement.Supervise day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and adherence to best practices.Collection Registration & DocumentationManage and enhance systems for collection registration, inventory, and documentation according to museum industry standards.Oversee cataloguing, numbering, location tracking, records management, and storage of collection items.Ensure accurate planning and documentation of logistics for shipping, packing, crate building, and courier movement.Stakeholder & Relationship ManagementCollaborate with the Senior Conservator to set policies, procedures, and strategies for collection management.Coordinate with internal teams, museum partners, and external consultants to ensure alignment with sector-wide objectives.Review reports, advice notes, and documents from partners, providing recommendations to the Section Manager.Policy & Process DevelopmentSupport the development and standardization of collection registration policies, processes, and procedures.Promote effective information flow and build awareness across internal and external stakeholders.People LeadershipLead, coach, and develop team members to foster high performance and professional growth.Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to ensure operational excellence.EHS & ComplianceEnsure adherence to all relevant Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and regulations.Promote a responsible environmental and safety culture within the unit.Change ManagementSupport organizational change initiatives by demonstrating adaptability and fostering a positive, proactive team culture.Qualifications & ExperienceEducationBachelor's degree in Arts, Business Administration, Museum Studies or related field.Master's degree preferred.ExperienceBachelor's degree holders: 6–8 years of experience in Registration/Collections Management, including 2+ years in a managerial role.Postgraduate degree holders: 4–6 years of experience in Registration/Collections Management, including 2+ years in a managerial role.Ideal Candidate ProfileStrong leadership and team management capability.Expertise in museum registration, cataloguing, and collection management systems.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.Experience managing logistics for artwork movement, storage, and handling.
