Offer Description
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto opens a call for 1 research grant for a doctoral student to carry out R&D activities under the project ‘CitiLink’, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). The project aims to develop NLP models in European Portuguese for summarizing city council meeting minutes, with collaborations involving multiple municipalities and Porto Digital.
**Research field / Scientific area:** Language Sciences.
**Admission requirements:**
* Master's degree in Linguistics or related areas
* Enrolled in a PhD program in Linguistics
**Preferred requirements:**
* Experience with linguistic annotation tools, especially INCEPTION
* Proficiency in European Portuguese (C2 level or native)
* Experience in semantic annotation in European Portuguese
* English proficiency (C1 level)
**Work Plan:** The project involves creating NLP models for analyzing city council minutes, developing annotation schemes, and collaborating with multiple teams and municipalities. The work includes dataset annotation, model validation, and dissemination activities.
**Legislation:** Governed by the University of Porto's regulations, the Portuguese legal framework, and applicable laws.
**Workplace:** Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Porto, under Professor Purificação Silvano.
**Duration:** 4 months, renewable up to 30/01/2026, not exceeding four years for doctoral students.
**Monthly allowance:** €1,309.64, with optional social insurance participation.
**Selection methods:** Curricular assessment (60%), possible interview (40%), with detailed evaluation criteria provided.
