We're looking for a PhD-level researcher to play a key role in launching and operating a brand-new, state-of-the-art photonics laboratory as part of PIXeurope — the European pilot line for photonic integrated circuits (PICs).

About the Role
In this highly impactful role, you'll be hands-on in setting up, maintaining, and running advanced lab equipment, including:
Nanoimprinting systems
Optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) tools
Probe stations
Microfabrication tools such as TEPVD, UV lithography, and ICP-RIE
You'll also:
Develop SOPs and ensure all systems are operationally ready
Train and support fellow researchers on equipment and processes
Contribute to R&D activities in PIC development and fabrication
Collaborate closely with top-tier partners in the PIXeurope consortium
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a technically strong and proactive individual with a passion for pushing the boundaries of photonics.
Must-haves:
PhD in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related field
Hands-on experience in micro/nanofabrication (e.g., lithography, etching, thin film deposition)
Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and lab safety standards
Strong interest in applied R&D for photonic integrated circuits
Excellent problem-solving and team collaboration skills
Solid communication skills in English
A structured, methodical approach to documentation and lab organization
