If that sounds like you, read on.
We're looking for a
Head of Marketing
who can
take ownership of the marketing function.
This is not a role for someone who needs constant management, daily task lists or detailed instructions. We need someone who can understand the business goals, build the marketing plan, manage execution, coordinate the team, improve processes and keep things moving independently.
You'll work with the Chief Growth Officer and founders on strategy, priorities and direction, but day-to-day you'll be expected to own marketing execution and team coordination yourself.
You'll have strategic oversight, support and feedback, but not micromanagement.
This role is ideal for someone who is both strategic and hands-on. Someone who can think clearly, manage moving parts, use modern tools, coordinate people, make decisions and ship work consistently.
What you'll own
You'll be responsible for turning marketing strategy into execution across content, campaigns, outreach, events, analytics and marketing systems.
You'll own the marketing calendar, priorities, delivery rhythm, team coordination and reporting.
You'll be expected to identify what needs to be done, propose solutions, assign work clearly, manage delivery and communicate progress without waiting to be chased.
You'll manage a small marketing team of three people:
SMM Manager
Events Manager
Community Manager
You'll also coordinate external subcontractors, including:
Design subcontractors
PR subcontractors
Other specialist partners when needed
What you'll do day-to-day
Build and manage the marketing execution plan based on business priorities
Turn strategic ideas from the CGO and founders into clear campaigns, content, events and assets
Manage the SMM, Events and Community functions as one connected marketing system
Own the marketing calendar across content, social, email, community, outreach and events
Coordinate the publishing flow and make sure work is shipped consistently
Brief and manage design, PR and other external subcontractors
Set up, improve and track outreach, campaign and lead generation processes
Track website, campaign and channel performance, then turn data into clear next steps
Build and run marketing experiments using AI, automation, CMS, analytics and other modern tools
Keep the team updated on priorities, progress, blockers and what needs attention
What success looks like
You're successful in this role if marketing becomes more structured, consistent and effective.
That means:
The marketing team knows what to do, why it matters and when it needs to be done
SMM, events, community, content, PR and design work together as one system
Campaigns, content, events and launches are planned properly and shipped on time
Outreach and lead generation processes are running, tracked and improving
Analytics are turned into clear decisions and next steps
External subcontractors are briefed clearly and managed efficiently
The CGO has visibility on priorities, progress and blockers without needing to chase
Problems are surfaced early, with proposed solutions
The CGO can focus on strategy while trusting you to manage execution and team delivery
What we care about more than your CV
You can work independently and manage your own priorities
You take ownership from idea to execution, not just assigned tasks
You can turn rough direction into a clear plan for yourself and the team
You have experience managing people, freelancers or external partners
You can give clear briefs, set priorities and follow through on delivery
You communicate clearly, especially when something is blocked or unclear
You are comfortable making decisions without waiting for permission on every small detail
You are reliable in a remote environment
You learn fast, test ideas and improve based on results
You are comfortable using digital tools, AI and automation
Bonus points
Experience managing a small remote marketing team
Experience in B2B, education, govtech, edtech or international projects
Experience with content strategy and SMM
Experience with marketing automation and cold outreach
Basic analytics experience, including GA4, Search Console or similar tools
Experience managing designers, copywriters, PR specialists or external agencies
Curiosity toward AI tools and how they can improve marketing execution
Experience building marketing processes from scratch in a startup or small team
What you get
Fully remote role
Flexible schedule
High autonomy
Real ownership of the marketing function
Responsibility for managing a small marketing team
Direct access to strategy and decision-making
Supportive leadership without micromanagement
A small, focused team where good communication matters
Space to build systems, improve processes and shape how marketing works
Equal opportunities
We're interested in how you think, work and solve problems, not how perfectly your CV matches a checklist.
If you have the right mindset, strong ownership and the ability to figure things out independently, we'd like to hear from you.
Interview questions
In our first interview, we'll talk through a few things to understand how you think, work and solve problems.
Some of the questions we may cover:
What does ownership mean to you in a Head of Marketing role?
How do you turn a rough business goal into a concrete marketing plan?
Tell me about a time when you managed a small team, freelancers or external partners.
How do you keep SMM, events, community, design and PR aligned around one marketing plan?
How do you decide what to prioritise when everything feels important?
Walk me through a marketing campaign, asset or experiment you're proud of. Why did it work?
Tell me about a time when you had to figure something out with limited guidance.
Look at our current website or social channels. What would you improve first, and why?
How do you report marketing progress to leadership?
What does good remote team communication look like to you?
When something goes wrong or someone on the team gets stuck, how do you handle it?
What kind of relationship would help you work best with a Chief Growth Officer?
