Qualifications
* You have a PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
* You can effectively translate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* You have proven leadership experience with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
* You have extensive hands-on experience with image models and relevant deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
* You have deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services relevant to data science, including Vertex AI, AI Platform, Cloud Storage, Compute Engine, Dataflow, and BigQuery for large-scale data warehousing and analytics.
* You have a strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and experience working with MLOps pipelines.
* You have solid experience navigating data compliance challenges within the medical field and with medical devices. This includes familiarity with regulations like HIPAA, GDPR standards, and an understanding of the unique data challenges and ethical considerations inherent in this critical industry.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models specifically for medical device applications.
* Guiding the team in selecting appropriate methodologies, algorithms, and tools for diverse data science problems.
* Ensuring the scalability, robustness, and maintainability of data science solutions in a production environment.
* Overseeing and architecting the entire data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation to storage and access, while ensuring data quality and availability.
* Spearheading data compliance efforts within the data science team, ensuring strict adherence to regulations pertinent to the medical field and medical devices (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, FDA regulations, ISO 13485, MDR/IVDR, and the Data Act).
* Collaborating closely with legal, regulatory, product and quality assurance teams to ensure all data science initiatives meet the highest compliance standards.
* Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level data scientists, fostering their growth and skill development.
* Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative spirit.
* Contributing to the strategic direction of the data science team, aligning data initiatives with broader business objectives.
