We are seeking a Mechanical Design & Simulation Engineer with a strong background in mechanical design, thermal analysis, and advanced simulation techniques. In this role, you will be at the forefront of designing and analyzing innovative mechanical systems and components, focusing on performance optimization, structural integrity, and thermal and vibro-acoustics behavior. Your day-to-day will involve concept-to-design translation, CAD modeling, FEA & CFD analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver efficient, high-performance solutions for our global projects. At Allient you will have the exciting opportunity to work integrated drives that control brushless DC motors and associated actuation systems in the Industrial, Automotive, and Aerospace markets including major process automation, vehicle control, and space launch system providers. You will research, develop, design, implement, test, and evaluate integrated solutions in conjunction with hardware and software product development. Your efforts will result in a high value integrated system that will provide our customers with a competitive advantage in their products and markets. ResponsibilitiesDesign and optimization of mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools such as SolidWorks. Creation of simulation models of physical systems (thermal, electrical, kinematic) related to the context of use of integrated motion control solutions. Perform finite element (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations with ANSYS tools to assess structural, thermal, and vibro-acoustic performance. Development of testing platforms, including fixtures, couplings and test benches. Conduct performance, thermal and vibration analysis, including experimental procedure proposal execution, and conclusion assessment using key indicators. Apply thermodynamic concepts and thermal behavior enhancement methods to design high power dense and capable systems. Develop and validate algorithms and models in Matlab, Simulink, or Python to support engineering decisions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electronics, software, manufacturing) to ensure seamless system integration. Contribute to R&D initiatives and help define innovative solutions in mechanical engineering. RequirementsMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferably with focus on Structural Engineering, Machine Design, Vibrations, or Thermal). Proven experience in mechanical design and simulation (3+ years preferred). Hands‐on expertise with CAD (SolidWorks) and simulation (ANSYS, FEA, CFD) tools. Strong foundation in thermal analysis. Programming skills in Matlab, Simulink, Python (additional scripting or automation knowledge is a plus). Critical thinking, problem‐solving mindset, and ability to approach multidisciplinary engineering challenges. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong knowledge of spoken and written English. Preferred QualificationsWork experience, knowledge of gear motors, electric motors, and drives is a plus. Experience in noise and vibration analysis and simulation. Experience in BLDC motors and control algorithms would be a plus. Experience with automotive or industrial standards is a plus.
