As a Technical Claims Handler, you will deliver a high-quality service to Hiscox clients and their brokers, maintaining and enhancing Hiscox's reputation for claims handling. The role involves managing a portfolio of claims, assessing their severity, and handling them proactively. Emphasis is on providing deep technical expertise, handling fast-track claims as required, being customer-focused, and managing indemnity spend. You will also support other departmental areas, review policy clauses, understand legal trends, and assist with claims handling and referrals in Spain.

You will report to the Iberian Claims Manager.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage claims for Professional and Commercial products (PI, D&O, damages, cyber, etc.) proactively within set service levels and company values.
- Assess claim severity, decide on actions, involve experts or colleagues as needed.
- Negotiate and settle claims fairly and promptly within authority.
- Refer complex or high-impact claims to the Claims Manager, establishing technical criteria.
- Conduct claim file reviews and audits for performance improvement.
- Review and clean the portfolio when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with SLA standards.
- Build relationships with external parties like brokers and providers, and internally.
- Maintain a customer and indemnity-focused approach aligned with Hiscox philosophy.
- Manage CMS requirements with the European team.
- Administrative & Management (20%)
- Become an expert in managing the Claims Management System (CMS) and new system AGORA.
- Handle claim opening and correspondence profiling.
- Provide technical training to the team and support underwriting when needed.
- Report periodically and on specific events, providing portfolio insights and trends.
- Manage external providers, ensuring quality, performance, and controlling expenses, referring deviations to the Claims Manager.

Ideal Candidate

- Bachelor of Law.
- Excellent communication skills in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
- Flexible, creative, proactive, and innovative.
- Results-driven with energy and determination in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, able to meet deadlines.
- Respectful and able to maintain good stakeholder relationships.

Professional Experience

- 4-5 years in a law firm or claims department managing liability, cyber, damages claims.
- 2-3 years reviewing clauses and wordings.
- Ability to analyze legal issues and make decisions within authority.
- Understanding of customer focus and a drive to deliver it.
- Willingness to grow and take on more responsibility.
