Job Description
We are supporting an international Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the search for an
Asset Manager – Renewable Energy & BESS
, based in Lisbon.
The role is responsible for the
technical, commercial, and administrative management
of an operational portfolio of renewable generation assets, including
solar PV, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
. The objective is to ensure optimal asset performance, regulatory compliance, and long-term profitability, working in close coordination with technical, financial, and operational teams.
This is a hands-on asset management position with direct accountability for performance, not a
purely reporting or coordination role.
Main Responsibilities
* Monitor and manage the technical and financial performance of operational renewable assets (production, availability, KPIs, revenues, OPEX).
* Coordinate with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) providers to ensure compliance with technical standards, SLAs, and timely resolution of incidents.
* Oversee the operation and performance of
BESS assets
, including operational use, technical condition, and performance optimization.
* Analyze performance deviations and define corrective actions or improvement plans.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant contracts, including O&M, PPA, land leases, insurance policies, and BESS-related agreements.
* Prepare periodic performance, risk, and financial reports for senior management, investors, and lenders.
* Coordinate relationships with key stakeholders such as grid operators, regulators, landowners, commercial partners, and service providers.
* Support technical and operational
due diligence
processes related to asset acquisitions or portfolio rotations.
* Participate in budgeting processes, revenue forecasting, and operational cost control.
* Manage and leverage digital monitoring and control platforms such as SCADA, EMS, and asset management systems.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives related to performance optimization and operational efficiency.
* Carry out any other asset management–related activities required by the direct manager.
Requirements
* Education:
Degree in Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience:
Minimum of
3 years of experience
in renewable energy asset management (solar, wind) within an operational portfolio.
* Storage Exposure:
Experience or direct exposure to
BESS or hybrid renewable assets
is highly desirable.
* Operational Background:
Experience working with operating assets, O&M supervision, or technical performance management.
* Languages:
Advanced English is mandatory for reporting and international coordination; Portuguese is required at a professional level.
* Availability:
Willingness to travel occasionally to operational assets within Portugal.
Technical Knowledge
* Interpretation of technical and financial KPIs for renewable energy assets.
* Knowledge of SCADA, EMS, and asset management software.
* Understanding of BESS operation, including inverters, controllers, charge/discharge cycles, and efficiency metrics.
* Solid understanding of O&M contracts, PPAs, land lease agreements, and technical insurance policies.
* Knowledge of the Portuguese electricity market and regulatory framework.
