About the Position
NIMGenetics, a company by LGC, is looking for a Head of Sales in Portugal.
Location: Portugal, preferably Lisboa (Remote with travel as required)
Reports to: Iberia Sales Director
At NIMGenetics, we are committed to advancing genetic diagnostics and personalized medicine across Europe. To continue our expansion, we are seeking a Head of Sales to lead our efforts in Portugal. This is a strategic leadership role for a commercial professional passionate about healthcare innovation and eager to make a meaningful impact in genetic diagnostics.
Your Mission:
As Head of Sales for Portugal, you will lead our commercial activities in the region, building strong relationships with healthcare institutions, driving market growth, and representing NIMGenetics’ portfolio of genetics services. You will define and implement our local sales strategy, engage directly with clients, and guide distributor teams to success.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy & Market Leadership
* Manage P&L of NIM Portugal Business plan
* Develop and execute commercial strategies to expand our presence in Portugal
* Design and implement tailored action plans across regions and healthcare sectors
* Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly
Business Development & Key Account Management
* Identify and engage potential healthcare partners, present services, and lead negotiations
* Manage the full customer lifecycle: prospecting, contracting, onboarding, and support
* Coordinate technical and medical visits with key clients in collaboration with internal teams
* Support distributor sales teams during negotiations and closings
* Deliver product and sales training to distributor partners
* Act as the local voice of the market, providing feedback to product and technical teams
* Develop local sales tools and cost-effectiveness models
* Contribute to product development initiatives within multidisciplinary teams
Planning & Reporting
* Prepare strategic plans and budgets with marketing and product teams
* Report performance metrics in quarterly Monthly Management Reports (MMRs)
* Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and other platforms
* Represent NIMGenetics at industry events, negotiate sponsorships or partnerships
* Build relationships with key opinion leaders and stakeholders in genetics
Additional Contributions
* Support proposal writing for grants or RFPs
* Contribute to market research projects as needed
About You
We seek a high-performing, entrepreneurial leader who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
Candidate Profile
* 10-15 years of experience in business development or sales within life sciences or healthcare; genetics or medical devices experience is a plus
* Deep understanding of the Portuguese healthcare system, including procurement processes
* Background in genetics, medical science, or biology (e.g., MD, biologist) is advantageous
* Experience working with international HQs
* Proven success in fast-growing environments with autonomy
* Native Portuguese speaker, fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
* Strong communication and negotiation skills
* Willing to travel across Portugal
