We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead the delivery of mechanical systems on large-scale data centre builds. You'll be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of mechanical packages, managing subcontractors, ensuring quality and compliance, and driving progress on-site. This role demands strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and coordination skills to meet demanding timelines and project goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the end-to-end delivery of all mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, pipework, pumps, valves, and associated infrastructure
* Coordinate all mechanical subcontractors, ensuring work is completed to specification, safely, and on schedule
* Interface with the wider project team including CSA, electrical, commissioning, QA/QC, and health & safety departments
* Review design drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure technical compliance
* Monitor and manage project schedules, sequencing, and milestones in collaboration with planners
* Track and report progress, manage risks, and ensure timely resolution of technical issues
* Oversee quality assurance, inspections, and documentation of mechanical systems
* Support the commissioning process and ensure smooth handover of mechanical systems
* Maintain high standards of site safety, in line with project EHS requirements
* Liaise regularly with clients, design consultants, and internal stakeholders
* Contribute to procurement decisions and value engineering opportunities
* Conduct weekly progress meetings and produce detailed reports for senior management
Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (essential)
* Minimum of 7+ years' experience managing mechanical installations on large-scale construction projects
* Proven track record in data centres, high-tech manufacturing, or other complex infrastructure projects
* Strong understanding of HVAC systems, cooling strategies, mechanical coordination, and commissioning processes
* Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g. ASHRAE, CIBSE)
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical specs, and schedules
* Proficient with project management software and digital tools (e.g. BIM 360, Navisworks)
* Willingness to work on-site across Europe with rotation or relocation support
