Job Description
The role involves identifying and evaluating potential intellectual property generated within the organization, as well as managing the patenting process. This includes liaising with patent attorneys and maintaining an up-to-date database of the organization's IP portfolio.
The job duties also involve advising researchers on IP protection and best practices, assessing the commercial potential of research outputs, and developing strategies for licensing, spin-offs, or industry partnerships.
Additionally, the role requires negotiating, drafting, and managing licensing agreements and tech transfer deals, facilitating startup/spin-off creation based on research outputs, and identifying potential industry partners for technology commercialization.
Other responsibilities include building relationships with investors, companies, and public agencies for funding opportunities, organizing networking events to connect researchers with industry stakeholders, and overseeing contracts related to IP, licensing, and R&D collaborations.
The successful candidate will also work with legal teams and IP attorneys to resolve IP-related disputes or conflicts, conduct training sessions and workshops for researchers on IP and commercialization, and support the development of internal policies and guidelines for IP protection and tech transfer.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Graduated in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or any other relevant field.
* Deep understanding of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
* Experience with IP protection strategies and patent filing processes.
* Knowledge of licensing agreements and IP valuation.
