About the Role: Regulatory Compliance Associate

MarTrust Europe SA (''MarTrust'') is an Electronic Money Institution, regulated by the Banco de Portugal (BdP) that provides payments solutions and services focused on the maritime industry. This function supports the Compliance team and is a key element in a smooth running of regulatory compliance in Portugal.

Your Day-to-Day Will Involve:

- Monitor and manage the Regulatory Mailbox in BPNet and other relevant platforms to ensure timely identification and escalation of regulatory correspondence so that actionable items are promptly addressed, and compliance obligations are met by reviewing incoming communications daily, flagging priorities, and escalating to the MLRO/Assistant MLRO for appropriate follow-up.
- Continuously monitor developments in UK and EU regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA, BdP, ECB, EBA) to proactively assess their relevance and impact on the institution so that the organization remains compliant with evolving regulatory expectations and avoids penalties by analyzing updates, coordinating with key stakeholders, and initiating or leading implementation projects where required.
- Maintain and enhance compliance governance processes, including committee management, minute-taking, and document control to ensure strong internal oversight, regulatory alignment, and accountability so that all compliance activities are well-documented, traceable, and effectively monitored by organizing committee schedules, preparing accurate minutes, updating governance documentation, and overseeing the regulatory reporting calendar.
- Assist in the preparation and timely submission of regulatory reports to the Bank of Portugal and other authorities to ensure accurate, consistent, and compliant regulatory disclosure so the institution meets its legal obligations and avoids enforcement actions or reputational risk by compiling required data, cross-checking for accuracy, coordinating with departments, and maintaining an organized submission log.
- Support and uphold strong corporate governance standards within the institution to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and regulatory integrity so that Board and Committee processes comply with internal policies and external expectations by preparing governance packs, assisting in Board and Committee meeting documentation, and ensuring consistency with best practices.
- Serve as the first point of contact for internal compliance-related queries to provide timely and accurate regulatory guidance to staff so that operational decisions are aligned with compliance obligations and reduce regulatory risk by interpreting relevant laws, policies, and procedures and advising departments accordingly.
- Assist the MLRO/Assistant MLRO in managing interactions with regulatory bodies to ensure readiness for inspections, audits, and official communications so that all engagements with authorities are well-prepared, consistent, and auditable by drafting responses, maintaining logs, tracking deadlines, and supporting documentation requests.
- Attend regular regulatory and compliance training sessions to keep knowledge current and maintain high standards of compliance assistance so that regulatory advice and support reflect the latest developments and expectations by actively participating in internal and external training programs and applying learnings to daily tasks.
- Support the Compliance Team with core operational activities to maintain a strong, proactive, and responsive compliance function so that risks are identified early, and controls are implemented effectively across the organization by assisting with policy updates, performing internal monitoring checks, and collaborating with Risk, Legal, and Group Compliance teams.

Qualifications We're Looking For:

- Relevant Degree - Law, Economics, Management or other relevant courses
- 4 years of Regulatory Compliance experience
- Regulatory Liaison experience with Bank of Portugal; Usage of BPnet platform.
- Experience with Risk Management, Internal Controls and Corporate Governance
- Excellent communication skills, can explain/understand regulatory requests and escalate the relevant request to the MLRO
- Ability to work with multiple colleagues in different locations
